The console lid in my ‘84 TA is in decent shape but it’s warped and doesn’t stay closed. I’d like to buy a reproduction piece from Hawk’s but wondering if anyone knows how (or if) the SPID can be removed and placed on the new lid somehow. I haven’t tried doing anything to it yet because I don’t want to ruin the SPID.
Re: How can I transfer my SPID to new console lid?
I've never tried to do this but my guess is you would ruin the label if you try to remove it.
IMO, if the original lid is no good, you might consider cutting through the lid material around the label
and then attach it to the new lid.......just a thought.
Maybe someone else that has sucessfully removed the label will chime in....good luck
Re: How can I transfer my SPID to new console lid?
Mine was actually on the console, not the lid. -but when I swapped consoles, I cut the SPID out of the plastic and just carried it around in the glove box from that point forward. If you wanted it to "appear" correct, you could always take a photo and have a decal made. Then just stick it on the new lid.
Re: How can I transfer my SPID to new console lid?
I got the SPID off today. Mine had some areas around the sticker that were coming loose so I carefully used a razor blade and pulled it off. It seemed like the SPID paper didn’t have glue under it except for a spot right in the middle. Now just have to attach it to the new Hawk’s console lid. Might try to use spray adhesive.
On a side note, the repro Hawk’s lid looks great. They did a good job on this thing. It even comes with a new hinge attached.
