IROC Dashboard Restoration

I'm disassembling my dashboard and all of the black plastic items, such as the gage bezel and passenger side flat vertical part of dash appear to be painted. Did the factory paint these items or a previous owner? Assuming Ray are not supposed to be painted any guidance on how to restore? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Note it as a black '88 convertible.

They were not painted from factory. Someone has painted them afterward. Good luck removing it without damaging plastic underneath. Probably have to just paint it again.

Re: IROC Dashboard Restoration

Thanks for the help - I assumed someone had painted them but wanted to confirm.

I will try to strip them and if I damage the plastic, will source replacements.

Re: IROC Dashboard Restoration

Ive used brake fluid (not brake cleaner) to remove paint from plastic, especially textured plastic.Works really well w/out effecting the texture, but that was on much smaller parts.

84 1LE - thanks for the brake fluid tip. So far, working very well. Finished all of the bezels now on to the main dash.
