Pull down hatch slides
I replaced my motor, housing, switch and slides on my 88 gta. Tried to put it back in the rail with the new slides and it will only go 1/4 the way until it gets hard to move. I greased the metal rail and no help. Is this normal? Or should it slide easy?

Re: Pull down hatch slides
You have to trim the slides with a dremel tool or something else. On literally EVERY SINGLE 86-91 hatch motor on which I replaced the slides (must have been about 7 or 8 in the last 10 years), the aftermarket slides were just to big and had to be trimmed a lot! On the later 91-92 hatch motors... always a perfect fit...

Much appreciated! I figured I might have to. I just didn't want to alter before I knew for sure!

Re: Pull down hatch slides
I had to shave mine down on a Wen belt/disc sander quite a bit to get them to work. Actually opened up the "slot" in the middle I shaved it down so much. Pics here.

If you have a 3D printer you can print these. The set I printed fit perfectly; no trimming needed.
