Because the transmissions are a slight bit different. If you went with a pre LS 4l60 and have somebody add an fbody tailshaft (if it's not from an fbody car) then you can use the stock x member.

Forgot about this thread...I no longer need a T56 crossmember (sold the GTA, bought a GTO)
