I think the LS7 heads will bolt on but not sure they'll work due to valve size and all. I can't remember what the minimum bore size is to use the LS7 heads...

I think they are all ironed out now, but he went thru hell for awhile. It runs in the high 8's or low 9's now I believe. Another local guy has a 422 with no issues that I know of... yet. He's currently the fastest N/A LSX/6spd in the country. There are a few others around here too... 427's seem to have issues though.
i thought Doc went with an iron block 422 like Tim Tosto did?

and no an LS7 head wont work on an LS1 based block (or ls2 for that matter). the bores arent big enough for the LS7 head to fit and the LS7 intake ports are different than the ls1 based intake ports.

FWIW, HPE (Horsepower Engineering, a sponsor of ls1tech.com) just put down 554rwhp with a cam/long tubes/cai LS7 with NO tuning. it put down 705rwhp with a 150 shot of nitrous still on the stock tune. they are waiting for the tuning software to be released and then all hell will break loose.

Doc did have a few 427's in his car... maybe its a iron 422 now... not sure. Either way, at one time it hauled *** with a LS1-based 427.

Yeah, I can't wait to see what these guys start putting down with modded LS7's... 700RWHP with those mods is insane!

Not sure yet, I want to but I don't have a trailer to get it home if I break it I'm not afraid to drive it 5 hours but if I break then I'm screwed... we'll see. If nothing else I might go and take the GTO or GTP!
