LT1 swap
He guys..and girls, i read most of the posts in the lsx andltx area, but im still confused. I have an 87 z-28 clone, with a 2.8 v-6, and i want to install, an LT1. What other than the motor, trans, wiring harness and computer do i need. Like custom work, you know. Plus is it an easy jpb to do or a pain in the ***??

Accessories, and it's only as hard as you make it. I had mine in and running in about 3 months, and that was pulling the motor twice.
powersteering hoses
a/c connections
fuel lines
are the major things that come to mind.
its not complete, but check out the swap guide in my signature for a better idea if you haven't already. As klortho said, this swap and be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. It depends on your level of competency, the amount of money you have and are willing to spend, the amount of time you have available to complete it, and whether you have the correct tools or not.
I will post in more detail later.

other than whats stated above...
I put in an LT1 radiator with duel fans. wasn't a direct fit. Takes a little custom work.
Get EGR block out plates if you get non-emission headers. There like 20 bucks on ebay. no biggie.
Exhaust is something i haven't started on. I'm planning on building my own with true duel exhaust.
www.bowersrodhop.com - this guy had the alternative i was looking for, for keeping the a/c. I didnt want to notch the frame so i bought the a/c reloaction bracket. I'm going to try using 92 V6 a/c hoses - they look nicer.
also check out www.camaroz28.com -- very good site

Do you have any problems getting to anything?
How did you run your A/C lines and which did you use?
I've got a lot of questions because I'm about to start my swap and want to keep A/C.

Everything seems fine expect for the AC lines.
I happen to look at my other car's AC and i liked it more. The 92 V6 has the AC in the upper driver's side location too but the lines look much neater. I'll take pics of the 92 later today and show ya what i mean. So, i bought lines for a 92 V6 and thats what i'm going with.
This is a pic with the 86 lines on LT1. They could work, but i think they would have to be bent because if the hood is shut the lines might rest on top of the belt.

ok heres the ac lines on my 92 V6 that i plan on using for the LT1. This is not the LT1 it is my 92 V6 shown in the pic. Notice how they bend off to the side and dont lay on top.

Hmm.....$249 bucks for this or $25 for the piece to go on the compressor on the stock location and about another 40-50 for the hoses.
That's almost a gimmie.
