time to get started...
went down to hialeah florida to do business with TRANS AM CREATIONS. AWESOME parts dealer, very stand up and knowledgeable guy, very professional business and very orderly. cant say enough good things.
anyway we brought back a little something...

were going to be using the stock k member for now, with spohn's engine mounts. not sure if the stock transmount will work (5spd) but ill do a search and turn the answer up.
for the swap my boyfriend and i will have the help of mrdude_1.
its going into this....

The stock 5-speed tranny mount won't work because the 6-speed is about 2" longer than the 5-speed. You will need to look into getting the Spohn T56 crossmember (I love mine, worked like a charm)
Looks like you got a winner, a very clean motor

Very nice looking motor. How many miles are on it? Looks a bit cleaner than my 22,000 mile motor did. Good luck on the swap, it can be time (and money) consuming. Im nearly finished with mine now, sort of.
badgta that is a damn good deal, I paid $2k more than that for mine from canada.

its a little higher mileage than what we wanted but it should be alright. it has 80k on it. im sure we will be tearing into it any way and replacing things before it hits 100k.
the guy over at trans am creations is extending the warrenty b/c it is a swap. great guy

Congradulations! Welcome to the club.
If you are gonna tear into it before you swap it into the car, the best first thing you can do to it would be to ARP the bottom end. Check your piston rings too and check for piston slap and piston slap damage.

just an overview of the project. chime in if you see something that can be done better.
damn carbed cars. ok were going to be rewiring the entire car with the wiring harness out of a 90 -92 engine harness and dash harness.
instead of buying a conversion box for the speedo, we figured it was less cost to just upgrade to the electric stuff.
with the newer tbi harness (using a tpi harness would be a waste of a good harness) it should make the swap much easier, we will only have to add 2 circuits. then we will have to pick up an after market fuse block, some wire, and shrink wrap (already have solder and a gun).
were stepping up to a walboro pump and gas tank and fuel lines out of the same car the wiring harness's are coming out of. a local line fabrication shop will be making the custom steel braided fuel lines for engine to hard line connectons, with some quick disconnects.
of course were going to use an aftermarket trans crossmember and engine mounts. were going to have to get a later model wiper motor box, apparently the eary model ones are too large to clear the fuel rail.
the pullout came with a factory optioned hurst shifter. (thought that was pretty neat)
most all of the wiring is going to be done off of the car, were going to pull apart the ls1 harness and the later tbi harness, pull out what we dont need and put the rest together. and the computer will be going inside the car like mrdude's.
were going to hold off on upgrading the bottom end (arp and new bearings) until we get the tubular k member.
the exhaust is going to be the most difficult part due to the fact that we dont feel comfortable fabricating our own exhaust. we are going to have to trailer it to an exhaust shop.
were going to try and get every major part we need, and that most of the wiring is done before we take the car apart. we want this to be as seemless as possible. we should be pretty close with the help of mrdude and a little planning.
ok thats all i can think of right now. any input?

You will like the Hurst shifter, I have one on my T56 and it feels great, put a short stick on it, and you'll like it even more. Just when you get it in the car, be careful on how you shift from 2-3 since that shift fork is aluminum and bends really easy if you shove it in 3rd hard alot (which is what alot of people do) I was talking to a buddy who rebuilds the 6-speeds and there is a cast iron fork that solves that problem if it ever happens.

Glad you found one, I ended up just keeping that LS1 for my car. Sounds good with the TR224 cam in it and no exhaust.
