Timing Chain/Elec. Water Pump

Hello Everyone,
I just got the LT1 back from the machine shop and was pondering.
I'm going to be runing a electric water pump so therefore I don't need the H2o drive gear on the cam sproket or the driven gear for the pump. So why couldn't i just use a timing set for a regular roller motor? Like a Cloyse #9-3545 ???? please help.

That's what i'm doing, it actually saves money too, better than spending close to 250 for the extreme duty timing set and like 150 for the stock water pump. Just use a timing set for 87-up gen I roller engine.

What year LT1? If it's a '93 or '94 you will have to run the LT1 chain setup since the opti is splined into the cam gear, and I'm not going to say that the one for the pinned setup is different. My cam gear looks different than a normal cloyes setup.

Any body know anything about gear drives? I ordered one that fits 87 and up roller engines for my TPI engine. The question im asking is what can i do to "trick" or program out the knock sensor. Im guessing it will retard the timing causing the engine to run terrible. I currently have the engine out and im doing a full rebuild with tons of goodies so i wont know if the sensor is causing it to run bad or something else, so id like to solve this problem before i install the engine. I figured there has to be a way to do it since people are running around with superchargers on their TPI cars.

Gear drives + knock sensor = crappy running car.

Can't speak of the TPI engines, but the LTx and LSx engines depend on the knock sensor since they are running such high compression compared to the L98's (around 10.5:1 stock) and run a total of about 42* timing at WOT.

if you plan to drive the car aorund on the street, stick to the mezeire pump.

I've used both the CSi/CSR and the Mezeire. and the CSi/CSR has never last more than a year. where as the mezeires are still going strong. Heck I got one that is almost 3 years old now.

There are good CSi pumps, I know someone who ran one for almost 4 years on his LT1 and it's on another car now still going strong, plus if it does go out, they are rebuildable.

Running one here. My car isn't a daily driver anymore, but its been going strong for almost a year now.

I'm also running a Cloyes Double Roller timing set.
