LT1 help Please
Trying to buy a LT1 the fellow says it's out of a vett witch I really dont want it if so. So I got him to get the #'s off the block looked them up said it was 92-up LT1 2 or 4 bolt I know all vetts where 4 bolt witch other way can I tell what year it is?

Not sure how to tell exact year, i know 93 Lt1's were speed density and not maf so u could ask if it has map or maf

I belive that the cam is different in the earlier years, check the cam #, but I could be wrong. Also 95 and up had the vented opti.

Here is a little more info:
"You can deteremine what year the engine is by looking at the front of the engine. A "vented" Opti, and not crank position sensor is a 95. An unvented Opti and no crank position sensor is a 94. A vented Opti and a crank position sensor is OBD-II 96/97".

The 'vette LT1s have the fuel lines on the passenger side of the motor where as the F-body and other ones are on the driver side. Block castings are the exact same between the 2 bolt and 4 bolt blocks which won't help, as stated above, the opti is vented on the '95 and '96 versions, '96 will have a different timing chain cover.

Ok I have some pics looks like that the fule lines are on the drivers side If any one would take a look at them to see if they might know???
