Intake Diameter?

What diameter tubing would be right for an air intake? 3"? I'm thinking of making my own, but not sure of the sizing needed.
Are they're kits avaible?

I went with 3.5 since thats the size of my exhaust. I'll tell ya though, the 3.5 inch pipe is more than double the price of 3 :-\

I still have like 2 feet of it left, at 20 bucks a foot, I think I wasted some money :-(

Ok, thanks. I was originally thinking 3, but that seemed a little small.
Where'd you get the tubing and bends for your intake? It looks nice.
Is your exhaust custom or does someone make a 3.5" cat-back?

I'm building one right now...the TB diameter is 4inch and the MAF is 3.5. I am going to all 4 inch with some reducers for the MAF.

I went with 3.5 because thats the size of the MAF...

You can get the rubbers from

http://www.airflo.com/rubber.html

I want to say I got mine from AirIntakeHoses.com but when I go to that site its just advertising, so maybe they lost their domain...

They seem to have everything I would need. But why is the 3.5" $18 a tube and the 4" is $7.40?? That makes no sense to me.
I think I'm going to get 2 feet of tubing, a 90* and a 45* bend. That way, I can move the cone further into the fender area and build an aluminum box around it to isolate it from the engine air.

Ouch...that's steep. Should flow more than enough though...unless you are running huge cubes.

Hey, on the piece that mounts the MAF to the rest of the intake, is this what I need? Also, for the 90* going into the TB, will the 3.5 rubber tube and the right hose clamp mount to the rim of the TB?
And should I just order a cone filter from K&N? I think this one http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RE-0950 will work right. It's a cone, bottom outside is 6", 6" high, and the top diameter is 4.625" and a 3.5" inside diameter flange.

From the TB to the MAF I used a 4in to 3.5 in elbow. Then I attached the MAF to the 3.5 side of the elbow and put a 3.5 hump peice in to help get the tubing heading downwards. I did it that way because if I didnt use the hump the intake tubing was getting to close to the radiator. Then from that hump I did a 3.5 tube peice to and 3.5 elbow, then another 3.5 tube down thru the tray into the lower fender where I put the cone filter.

That sounds like what I have planned. But does it take a 4" to fit around the TB?
Let me see if I have this right:

TB-4"90*3.5"-3.5"hump-MAF-piping-elbow-piping-filter ??

I just remembered talking to you, James. Your swap is going beautifully. I got excited about those hoses, too!

Awesome. Looks like my parts list is ready to go.
I think I'm going to start buying the small parts I'll need (CAI, AFPR, other odds and ends) now. It's gonna be cool, because I'll have no LS1 and a selection of otherwise useless parts!!

Hey, guys... I've got one more question.
Does anyone know the centerline radius of the 90* going into the air cleaner? Thanks!
