Re: Painless engine managment for LSX

You can get that amount of HP out of the stock PCM system with heads/cam, why pay the outrageous prices of Painless for the same thing.

Re: Painless engine managment for LSX

Yeah, heads can be bought for an LS1 cheap...about 1300 for a set of Patriot heads which are extremly good heads for an LS1. Those are stage 2 heads.

We use a new GM raw 035 casting.
Precision welded combustion chambers.
Heat treated to OEM specs.
5 axis CNC machined.
Hand detailed and assembled.
21-4N Stainless Valves
Bronze Guides
Patriot Gold .650" Dual Springs
Titanium Retainers
5 Angle Valve Job

well 1300 can be defined cheap too the older crowd but too a kid with hes first 3rd gen working at taco bell sees those heads as hella expensive lol. Me personally ive been looking at the trick flows i havent decided wut mods are going on my ls1 before i put it in yet i want over 400hp for sure no compromise trying too retain good gas mileage i got a pretty long commute each day.

Re: Painless engine managment for LSX

If it's a 6-speed, then you'll be pretty much set. I know guys running 500 to the wheels getting 27-28mpg with 3.73's

LS1's are wierd how you can make hella power and still get good gas milage, not like your standard SBC. My LT1 in the GTA is the same way, build the fool out of them and get 26 or so with 400 to the wheels.

Re: Painless engine managment for LSX

ya they really did somthing right with the new engine designs. If you know what there set up for 500 with that mpg i would love too know it. Im just trying too stay as far away from radical cams that i can you can make a engine that has 1000hp the trick too keeping it tame is a tame cam. well i should say the only way too get the 1000hp with driveability is boost and a tame cam lol itd be expensive.

LS1 parts are pretty pricy to being with, add the word conversion to that and they get even more expensive.. Hell the headers alone are what ~1000?
