4.8 Liter Shorty Headers

I have a 2007 4.8L Vortec. I need to buy some shorty headers to fit in my engine compartment. Are LS1 and 4.8L heads the same? Will headers that fit on an LS1 fit on a 4.8L. Any help on a manufacturer would also be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 4.8 Liter Shorty Headers

get some car manifolds from an ls1 car. They are just as good or better than shorties.

Yeah LS1 heads and the truck heads are the same. LS1 swap headers are stupid expensive for what you get, too, so I'd go with the manifolds. They're not bad at all for manifolds.

Re: 4.8 Liter Shorty Headers

Get the 01 and newer F body manifolds. None are bad but they are the best performing. I see them for sale over on LS1tech for around 50 bucks fairly often. Good luck

Re: 4.8 Liter Shorty Headers

Hey bro, I have a 2006 Chevy RST 4.8 liter manual shift truck. This truck has the JBA shorty headers that sound great & performance is average I'd say. JBA has a good reputation for their headers, so you might want to look into going that route.

Only thing is, there aren't any headers (other than the swap headers that Hawk's sells) that will work on an LS series motor in a 3rd gen. The 01+ fbody manifolds are the only way to go without going with the swap headers.

Re: 4.8 Liter Shorty Headers

I did a thread some time back detailing how to get 400 rwhp from an LS1 using stock exhaust manifolds. LS6 heads and intake, a wide lobe sep cam with 218/232 and about .600" lift, as I recall.

Re: 4.8 Liter Shorty Headers

I seen Roy Fender's old company still has theirs on the site too, but like Hawk's you get the Stainless works set up. They use to have the a shorty style when Hawk's first started selling their long tube header style, what ever happened to that setup? I know he sold his company to young's to become youngefbody or something like that.
