What you guys doing for coils on LS1 swaps?
I got my ls1 in but running into to problems. Truck coils arent fitting and stock LS1 coils aren't fitting! I'm running a/c Spohn K-member and mounts. Anything I SHOULD KNOW? Thanks!

I'm not running AC but the LS1 coils fit with no problem on a stock K-Member.

If you dont have A/C there wouldnt be any issues with the coils... Unless you meant you have A/C, but its not working/hooked up.
Anyway...It was close on mine. So I moved the coil up on the bracket. Just built a little piece that allowed the coil to sit up towards the intake further. Clears with no issues.
Spohn motor mounts, stock k-member, full A/C, 99+ coil brackets and coils.

I have a 98 motor, a/c. stock k-member, spohn motor mounts, cut up the coil bracket a bit and moved the #8 coil 'up' so it would clear. I think I have 1 bold holding it down, but it doesn't move, nice and tight.

Yea..every one said to run the truck coils with a/c and it'll work.. Wrong. No clearance. So i think i might trim the bracket or make relocation brackets and put it under the cowl.

I have one of those nice and rare heater only boxes but I think when i go back to a/c i am going to just cut a notch in the a/c box and fiberglass it shut.
Might look in to something like that.

I am also using the Spohn motor mount adapters, and I have ac. I took a grinder and ground down the heater box to clear. Worked great, cant even see where I did the grinding.

Re: What you guys doing for coils on LS1 swaps?
I marked the area where mine hit and then took the heater box out and using a zip cut I cut out about a 3"x2" section and from the inside I siliconed and riveted a piece of aluminum sheet metal to the inside of the heater box. Unfortunately my heater box is now a one piecer because the coil hit right at the seam so i cut out some of the top and some of the bottom and then ended up riveting them together.
It did/does work great and was uber easy

For what it's worth I was messing with the a/c box last night and it didn't hit anywhere. Closest it touched was the plug on the back coil but not the coil itsself. Where's it supposed to hit?

Re: What you guys doing for coils on LS1 swaps?
Some swaps clear some dont. mine hit the coil bracket at the very rear and the plug on the coil as well. Probably cuz I made my own mounts and set the engine back as far as I could. I would guess the minor differences in the way each guy mounts the engine in are what make this an issue or not
