IROC intake on a LT1 engine?? help
I'm in the process of doing a LT1 swap into my IROC and I was wondering will the IROC intake setup and boot work on the 97 LT1 engine with the MAS. Or would there be any kind of better setup for my LT1 to route to the IROC intake that mounts to the front of the car because I would like to use that setup. Maybe combining a corvette duct from the throttle body to the MAS then to a modified intake duct from there to the plastic intake?? Just curious if anyone has done this or know a way this can be done.
Thanks for the help.

Re: IROC intake on a LT1 engine?? help
a better idea would be to use the LT1 intake on the IROC engine. That's exactly what Im doing. It's been done many times before, but the problem Im having is locating a professional shop that has already done this before. The few shops I did find are very hard to get in touch with. The LT1 intake flows a lot more air, and you can re-use a lot of parts from the TPI. Let me know if you come across a shop that has done this conversion.

You will be starving the engine for air using the stock TPI airbox setup, best thing, get the LT1 1LE elbow and use a cone filter on the end.

Ya, i wasnt exactly sure what the best setup would be, i thought since the IROC airbox was setup in the front of the car and where the air damn pushes air up to it, it would make for a good source of airflow... but again i'm not completely familiar with the LT1 engine yet and if the engine would be starving for more with that setup I'll have to start looking into the elbow setup and cone end. Thanks for the advice.

One way of thinking about it, it pulls the air into big boxes at the bottom, the compresses the air into that little bitty flat space where the hood shuts. Compressed air = increased temp in air and now you're putting hot air into the motor, plus not to talk about the restriction where the flat area is.

If I go with the LT1 elbow intake with the cone at the end, im assuming the MAF sensor will mount to the end of the elbow before the cone, and what is that big long thing that drops from the bottom of the elbow??? is that needed? and what does it do.?

the 1LE elbow doesnt have that. It is a silencer and is supposed to quiet air noise.
Re: IROC intake on a LT1 engine?? help
Spend the extra money and get an aftermarket elbow that is metal with silicone tubing not all rubber. My Lt1 and my brother's LT1 had troubles with the rubber elbows ripping, tearing, or falling apart around the clamps. They caused unmetered air to bypass the MAF and cause the engine to not run right. Its just an upgrade that is nice to have, one less thing to worry about, and it looks better in the engine bay.

Now that you mention it, do you have a picture of where you mounted the PS resevoir? I'm curious about where other people mounted theirs

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...-ltx-swap.html
I have a bunch of pictures on that forum showing my engine and where i mounted stuff.
I was looking at getting the aftermarket intake elbow... but does anyone know the part number for the cone air filter on the end??? i can't seem to find the filter anywhere.
And if I were to get the SS third gen hood, would the SS intake that wraps to the top of the manifold be a good buy? or does it bring in as much air as the LT1 elbow.. any performance difference?

You want one of these aftermarket elbows:
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...5&autoview=sku
http://www.jegs.com/p/Vortech/760501/10002/-1/11175
Advance auto or autozone has a non-oiled high flow air filter. I think its made by apc or some import brand and has adaptors to fit on 3, 3.5, or 4" tubes. About $25. You don't want a KN filter because its oiled, that oil will mess up the MAF.
