Flywheel - Difference between Corvette LT1 and Firebird/Caprice LT1?
Hi all,
I have a fidanza flywheel part #198501 which fits the 1989-1996 Corvette LT1.
What is the difference between fitment to a Corvette LT1 and an LT1 from a Caprice? I understand Caprice LT1 vs Firebird LT1 the heads are iron vs aluminum and the cam is different. Would this flywheel fit, or no? I am thinking no because of 1 piece bearing vs 2 piece, but wanted to ask someone who would know for a fact.
Any one know for sure?

Hmm interesting... Anyone have an idea why Fidanza made different flywheels for the two engines with a considerable price differential? ($50!)

Vettes used a ZF 6-spd, F-cars used the T56. I'll bet thats where the difference lies.

That could be... Does anyone know if I need to include the weight on the Corvette Fidanza flywheel to bolt it onto my 1995 Caprice LT1?

What transmission are you trying to put behind this engine? If its a T56, then just get the F-car part.

The transmission is an T56 from a 95 firebird. Will it fit to a 95 caprice LT1 motor with this Corvette flywheel? I've been told it will work, just the Corvette flywheel is about a pound heavier for noise cancellation.
Does anyone know if it will work, and do i need to attach the removable weight fidanza included in the package?

The ZF uses a pull style clutch, not a a push style. The flywheel shoudln't differ for that but maybe it's the bolt pattern for the pressure plate.
The removable weight is for an external balance engine.

If they were interchangeable, then the manufacturer wouldn't have one for the F-car and another one for the Corvette. There is something different that makes them non-interchangeable. Get the T56 flywheel.

This car is going to be hella fun! Those LT1s were very strong I always liked the way they pulled especially with the 6spd.
