Wonder what was done to my LT1????

Well what i found was new gaskets on the water pump then the timing cover? and also the oil pan? Do you think it was rebuilt? Cam swap mabey? Rebuilt? Give me ur guess!!!

Well, considering these motors leaked oil like crazy, I would say it probably just had a new gasket set put on it.

i would guess that a cam would be a possibility youll just have to find out when you fire it up.

Re: Wonder what was done to my LT1????
The most notorious leak on the LT1 engines was at the rear china wall of the intake manifold. Take off the intake and reseal it all around... new gaskets, and just use a HEAVY bead of silicone on the front and rear china walls. Don't use the rubber gaskets. The back of the intake is the most problematic leak spot. Other than that, its the generic SBC places... rear main seal, and valve cover gaskets.
Timing cover on the LT1 is a heavy cast aluminum peice, so it usually won't leak, but the crank and Opti seals on the timing cover can. You can still get those two seals from GM, which would be a wise thing to do. Don't get those seals anywhere else, they WILL leak if you use the aftermarket seals instead of the GM ones.... I spend 10 hours replacing them, only to have them leak just as bad with the new seals. Put GM ones in - still dry as a bone.
