LQ4 engine
LQ4 engine
I am new to chevy motors but I have picked up a camaro with a blown engine for cheep and am working on fixing it up. My question is i have got a 6.0 out of a 06 chevy van and was wondering if it was the same as what comes in the silverados and h2s. I was looking and it appears to be the same engine but it is only rated a 300 hp while the others are 325. What is the differance? I saw a article where someone took a lq4 and put l92 heads and a hot cam and bumped th hp up to something like 470 hp is this possible with the 06 van engine? I want to get good hp but need to know what I need to get it. Sorry for the newby questions but like stated before I am new to the chevy engines I am used to working on fords.

Re: LQ4 engine
you might have better luck in the swap forums, you can get it in but it may cost a bit more $
good luck
good luck
Re: LQ4 engine
I am not concerned with getting it in. My question is what is the differance between the 6.0 in the van and the 6.0 in the silverado and h2? There is a 25 hp differance and I would like to know why. Is it the sam engine just different intake or something else or is it a completely differnt model engine.

Re: LQ4 engine
most likely its the cam and valvetrain. and/or the intake setup
motors are the same minus those two factors. If your gonna build it anyway it shouldnt matter
also take into consideration if its a roller cam or a flat tappet id say look up the motor specs on like google and compare the two

LQ4 should have dished pistons and less compression than the LQ9

what is a good setup for the lq4? I would like to keep it fuel injected and would like to get around 450-500hp out of it with out nitrous or a blower. Any sugestions would be helpful.

poke around there for 2 days and read all the builds. depends on rear gear, converter, etc etc.

L92 heads GMPP carb intake and a good cam will get you 550 fwhp. But like xpndbl said ls1tech is the place to be.
GENIII/IV engines are no joke.
