Interior opinions
Hey Everyone.
Not normally a spot to post up a opinion thread for interiors.
But ive been battling getting my 4th gen dash to look and function correctly for the past year and im gettin ready to call defeat and throw in the white flag.
In your opinion, do you feel its worth spending the time to try to get the 4th gen dash to fit & function properly??
Or just put in a stock dash w/ an autometer cluster assembly, so the car looks stock for the most part inside.

Geez man, I could go either way on that question, since I've seen both done up nicely... I guess I'd vote for stock/aftermarket gauges (since it would look more "right" with the complete styling of the car), but I would expect that whichever way you did it, it would look good.

personally i like third gens looking like third gens. a few choice peices of interior like the seats still look they belong and I cheat on this for comfort. I guess i'm just a fan of old boxy 80s plastic. =D

I've only seen 1 interior done right (in person), and maybe a couple online with the 4th gen dash setup. It looks like to do it right you need to have some interior fabrication skills to cover the unsightly gaps near the edges and windshield pillars. If this can be overcome - they tend to turn out alright. If this isn't your forte, I'd stick to the 3rd gen setup - aftermarket gauges or made-to-work stockers. I always thought the 91-92 camaro gauges looked nice.

I had it fit in and functional, but a-pillars, door panels, dash pad etc. It all added up to it not looking as i would have liked.
I think ill just go to a '89 dash again, and do a custom cluster, and the interior clean looking stock setup. Thats functional and looks factory.

I always liked the 3rd gen dashes, the 4th gens look too similar to every GM, including sedans like my wifes 99 GTP 4 door.
A clean stock dash with Autometer gauges would be better than trying to mod something to fit and never fit right IMO. I have seen several 4th gen dash swaps and there is always a void area or something not finished completely.
