Ive just pruchased a 86 camaro with a lt1 swap. it was a original 305 the motor was swaped with a 96 lt1 out of a police packaged caprice. the motor runs fine and all but it looks like it was just thrown in there. I was wondering if anyone can send me some pics or give me advice on how and where everything should be mounted. Ill send some pics of how it looks. as it sits not there are wires every and alot things just siting in there loose. So if any else has done this and give any adivce that will be great. I just want to clean up and make it look like that motor is supposed to be in there ya know.

Re: new owner
Well, the caprice power steering line comes out on that side also, I thought the Camaro was the only one that got the oil cooler....I know that the Trans Am's didn't (at least the ones I've taken apart hasn't)
Ahh, it was a B4C Caprice, so yeah it's probably the oil cooler.
One of the things I would probably do to help with some of the cleanup is try and find an f-body harness, that way you don't have a bulkhead connector sitting almost on top of the engine, and with an f-body fuseblock, you can move that one from the blower motor and put it on the other side of the engine bay up front like in a 4th gen.

Re: new owner
thats what i was thinking of doing is getting a f-body wiring harnes for the lt1 and maybe one for the 86 and just make one up and then take it all out and hook up the complete new one. im also thinking about doing a battery relocation so that i canhave a bit more room in there.

oh and will a 3rd gen radiator work or should i get one for a f-body w/the lt1. cause i think they used the caprice's. the one thats in there seems a lil to wide and tall. they also have the fans in the front of the radiator is that right? and the fans are always on need todo a lil trouble shooting on that one.

Re: new owner
I'm using a 4th gen radiator and fan setup, also a 4th gen fusebox, so it was all pretty much plug and play except for the 8 or so wires I had to wire up to my dash harness.

Re: new owner
well i just found out i have bigger problems than wiring. i thought the starter went out. so i took it out and got it tested and it works fine. so after i cleaned it up, i went to install it. while i was doing so i found out that the flexplate and trouqe converter were just free spinning and a lil wobbely. so just to verify i got my wife and had her to try and turn the engine over, while i was looking at the flexplate and yup the starter is just pretty much turning the flexplate and trouqe converter. kinda funny how i drove this thing for over an hour with stops back home when i purchased it and had no problems. then about 2 days if that after i got this happens.

Re: new owner
you're thinking of 9c1, b4c only pertains to the camaro. and yes, they had oil coolers. the whole deal is removable from the block. we just swapped a 96 imp ss motor into my dad's 72 ss elcamino and removed the whole thing off the block because the header primaries were on it.
