4.8,5.3,6.0 Swap ?'S

When doing the truck motor and trans swap. What Ill need is the f-body accessories? Which one's? I know I need a f'body oil pan. And then Ill need motor and trans mounts. Im confused on the dash wiring, getting all the gauges to work with the truck harness. Other than that what else? I can get motor,trans,harnes,computer,etc...$800 so I just wanted to know what else is needed oh and I have a ss hood so I'm thinking the truck intake might work.

You'll need all the f-body accessories and mounting brackets for them. And you'll have to drill a hole for the third alternator mounting bracket. For the wiring what you have to do is cut the connector on the firewall for the gauges from your third gen engine harness. Then you have to splice it into the truck harness. I think the truck intake can only be used with a three inch cowl hood or higher, i forget the actual height that has to be used, hopefully someone who is using the truck intake will chime in.

Well I've been searching swaps for three days now and I haven't read much about the wiring and I wanted to make sure I was correct before I jumped into the swap. I've been reading both of the current 5.3 swaps.

having the stock harness reworked for stand alone will be your best bet.
fbody accesories work well. can use fbody oil pan or ctsv pan

Good stuff guys, I sold the lt1 and just picked up my 5.3 and any info is always helpful. what are we doing for motor mounts? Aslo, will the LS T56 bolt right up to this motor? What am I looking at for headers? These are just a few questions for now. No one better tell me to do a search.. I did.. and this thread is what I found. So lets talk 5.3's boys!!

If this thread is all that you found, then you need to expand your search terms. The 5.3 is externally identical to the LS1/2/6, so anything that bolts to the outside of one of those will bolt to the 5.3.

ALL of the questions you have so far (& probably a couple that you're still thinking of) have been answered in the sticky at the top of this forum. Read over that about 2, maybe 3 times, & if there's something that's not covered, you'll likely get a quick answer - as well as credit for a new question...
