6.0 intake questions
anyone have any comparison of an otherwise stock lq4 with the ls1 or ls6 intake. i am planning out my swap, and i want to know if the ls6 will actually gain enough on this engine to be worth approximately double the price. any input? thanks in advance guys,

From another thread here
Now the other question is, do you also want to spend money on a cowl hood so it will clear? It will need to be at least a 4" cowl.
Ken Duttweiler tested intakes on a Modified LQ9. Going from the truck intake to the LS6 piece gained 10 horses. From LS6 to LS2 lost 10 horses. From LS2 to FAST gained 20 horses. $900 for the FAST versus $300 for the LS6. I'm not paying $600 for only 10 horses.

Ah, gotcha.
Yeah, I'm fairly sure that a simple 2" or 2.5" cowl would clear it...

I remember someone posting pictures up and it looked like it stuck really high in the front but dunno, I know the LS6 intake is better for the HP

ls6 flows better and will make more power.
there is a tuck manifold that flows just as well as a ls6, but uses 90mm tb

Re: 6.0 intake questions
i know the ls6 flows better than the ls1, but i want to know how much actual performance it would gain over the ls1 intake. i'm putting a car intake on a lq4, i'm just trying to decide if i want the ls1 or ls6. will i feel much difference for the extra $150? if they're the same in low end, just 5-10 more horses up top with the ls6, then i'd be cool with the ls1 and save some cash. if the ls6 gives me 15 ft-lbs, then i want it for sure.

Re: 6.0 intake questions
a c5 ls1 flows a tad better than the fbody ls1, it will be enuff for a stock or bolt ons lq4, u wont really need a ls6 unles u plan on aggressive cam, etc. a ls1 intake will be plenty for up to 450bhp. i ran my camaro for yrs. with a stock fbody intake making 385rwhp with just bolt ons and a tune.
the c5 ls1 intake does flow somewhat better than fbody, and looks just like a ls6. and ther pretty cheep too.

Re: 6.0 intake questions
If you are using the truck acc. I think this biggest problem is the alt. being up top not so much the intake itself. The position of the alt. can be changed easily though. A 4" cowl is needed for a carb setup.
