How did you connect your speedo cable??

It just came to me that I never hooked up my speedometer cable, because I forgot haha... But I remember looking into a conversion box to go from my cable speedo to my T-56 connection from Xcat i believe it was called? I'm curious how accurate this speed transfer box is, and is there any other way to get your stock speed cable to the T-56 without spending $300 which is what that xcat cable box costs i think. Also did GM ever make a digital gauge cluster that may have a connection that would just plug into the transmission instead of the box? Well any help with my question would be great. Thanks guys!

Mine had an electric speedo, they didn't come in the Camaro's until either '90 or '91.

Not just the cluster, there's more behind the cluster that has to be changed. I have the entire dash from my '91 RS LO3. Lots of things different from my '88 Camaro LO3 dash.

Re: How did you connect your speedo cable??

He would need the cluster, and all the dash wiring. I'm not for sure if he would need the entire dash or not though.

The plastic things that hold the cluster are different.

Re: How did you connect your speedo cable??

Oh great this is getting more complicated than i was hoping haha. So IF i upgraded to the 90-92 gauge cluster I would have the electronic speedometer cable that would plug into my 6spd T-56 transmission, But I would have to rewire all the guages..correct? rewiring meaning simply splice in wires to their correct counterparts? or is is more involved?? And has anyone got this xcat box I mentioned before? is it a waste of money ?? Thanks for the help!
