Awesome build and update, I like to see the 5.3 swaps. Are you running the truck intake? I plan to do a 5.3/T56 swap in my 89 RS and would like to keep the stock hood. Is your speedo electronic for the 4l60e?

he's running a fiberglass hood, new hood struts are too strong for some company's 'glass hoods, and the hood struts for the factory 'glass hoods are twice the price and special order(as in, sometimes they're not available)...dueche

i could see him using the $60 towards more go-fast goodies

the build looks really good, but i'm curious why you've gone with the colder TR6 plug versus the TR55 which is what most folks run...unless you got a little spray you're not letting anyone know about

Re: Updates to the camaro

it depends on the brand. some of the cheaper ones are thinner than the more quality ones and will crack around the hood hinges with the added stress. the best bet is to find some that aren't completely blown that will no longer hold up a steel hood, but still strong enough to hold up the 'glass hood.

...and it kinda sucks that you picked out the things wrong with the car after he put in one of the most sophisticated pushrod v8's on the road today and it's running well and posted pics of the updates...

Yes that is the truck intake under a 4" cowl. I have all electric gauges. I hadn't got my speedo working yet still trying to figure that one out.. If I connect it straight to the vss sensor then the tranny won't shift and if I use the output from the computer It says I'm going a max of 5 mph.

Never knew about the worn out hood struts idea. May need to find some. Good looking out on that. Also didn't think about the 55 plug. My buddy recommended the TR6. Would that explain why it dies when I crank it until I get it going? almost like I have to let the pcm relearn an idle.. Also it will sometimes die when I stop at a stop sign or something similar.. Any help is appreciated.

I've got 3 pairs hanging in the garage in case I go fiberglass some day. New ones seem to last about 3 years.

They're generally pretty easy to find in the junkyard...
