To Rumble & All interested in modded loweringspring/LS1 stance
Hey Everyone.
Ive received a few PM's from people interested in seeing how the car sits since i modified the lowering springs i had.
So here's the deal. I got Eibach Sportline lowering springs on the car last year, and it always bothered me how the front sat high. I much prefer the front sitting al ittle lower then higher.
What i did, was take the springs and i chopped a little less then 1/2 a coil off of it. Re-used the factory rubber mounts & threw them in.
The result, the front sits about 1" lower then it did last year, and the front now sits lower then the rear. It looks VERY aggressive, i really like the look. The only beef ive got with it, is its almost too low.
Ill not that you really need to have a T56 w/ a double hump crossmember. The y-pipe i had last year, with the front sitting high only sat 3 or so inches above the ground, if it was the same this year, id barely have 1" clearance (dont know 100%, thats a wild guess).
With the double hump crossmember, the lowest part (actually is the angle iron on the crossmember) is about 3.5-4" off the ground. Its low yes, but im happy with it being low. Just cant cross any narly speedbumps haha.
Anyways, onto the pictures.
Here's how it sat last year:

Its a colour doctored photo, but you can see the way it sits.
Here's shots of it now. Keep in mind, the car has 0 miles on it, so the springs should settle .5" or so id expect. The passenger side seems to sit a tad lower, ill see if it settles even, otherwise ill pop that side out, and build up the spring mounting a little.
Also, keep in mind i have an iron block motor. So a all aluminum motor will lift 80 lbs off the front. Id say you'd add .5" at best. I know my iron block motor is 126lbs lighter then my old 3slow5(<3 aluminum heads, plastic intake etc)

I know the front end is gone, i heard it will make my rad cool faster, and the way the air catches the hood autta give me some good down force
It was painted, and i gotta tow the car to my new shop, and i dont trust ropes around teh front of my car hahaha
2nd post has more pictures (damn 5 picture rule!)

Hey, thanks Sheldon, that definitely helps!
The stance looks great, & the "no front" look is MAD pimpin'!

I actually said "what the hey" & ordered a set of Sportlines from Summit - but after a month (when the delivery date was pushed back for the third time)
I called Eibach directly to find out what the deal was. They told me that they couldn't get any wire, didn't know when they would be able to, so I called Summit back, cancelled the order, bit the bullet & went a different route.
They're scheduled to be delivered today...

Looks better than being a 4x4 but you could still go lower and drive it daily.

Re: To Rumble & All interested in modded loweringspring/LS1 stance

Theres alot of speedbumps around here, and thank god were changing shops, as with the front bumper on, theres no way it will make it up the driveway (its steep)
I expect it to settle some after it drives, so ill see how low it is after a some milage is put on. Im happy with the way it sits now. My dad thinks its too low.
That plastic air damn in the front is barely 2" off the ground (if that)
On the flipside, the vette's i do at work stock barely have 2" ground clearance haha
