LT1 Conversion into 92 Camaro

I found a 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood at a local junkyard with an LT1 in it for only $250.00 for the complete engine and wiring harness/ecm. I was wanting to know the differences between the LT1 in the caddy and an LT1 in a camaro. I know the caddy has cast iron heads and the camaro has aluminum. Also, would I be able to use my 700r4 with it?

The camaro got a little bigger cam also other than that they are the same LT1. You can use your 700R but not the cheapest way to go.You need a 93 throttle bracket. You need a 93 tv cable. You need a 93 throttle body or you can have a stud bolted to your tb, lock-up kit for a 700r4.

Re: LT1 Conversion into 92 Camaro

TCI is supposed to have a somewhat new product that eliminates the TV cable from a 700R4 and applies the correct pressure all the time. I would think it would be cheaper than a 93 tv cable bracket, 93 t.b., 93 tv cable, depending on if you buy a new t.b.

I don't know whether or not the new TCI product works great or not.

Most of those parts can be sourced for under $100

I dont get how TCI can make a part that controls hydraulic pressure based on the throttle position/load WITHOUT a trans to TB cable. Next i dont get why one would need that as a new TV cable is $40

Re: LT1 Conversion into 92 Camaro

I heard the constant pressure was bad on the trans. Could be wrong

Re: LT1 Conversion into 92 Camaro

Well the engine idea is scrapped as of right now, the guy that runs the junkyard was trying to screw me over. I went in to take another look at the engine with my friend and when i walked out he started talking about the engine being shot, not realizing that my friend was with me. So i took the oil pan off the bottom of the engine only to get rained on with metal shards galore, so there goes that idea.
