LS1 6.0L Truck motor into 3rd Gen Question
hi there. I just got a great deal on a 6.0L truck motor from a 02 sierra pickup and I wanted to know what mounts do I need to install this into my 92 Z28. I previously had an LT1 project for it but the project was costing to much for an antique motor so i bought this 6.0L cause I read that they are compatible with the LS2 heads...also I didnt get a wiring harness so will any LS series motor harness work and the pcm.....any help

Ah come on, they are not that old of a motor style. However since you are talking about costs it might be a good idea to do a search on all the pieces and parts you will need to put that motor in a third gen. From what I read here truck motors are used a lot for LSX swaps but they require additional components that really add up quick if you are not aware before hand.

Re: LS1 6.0L Truck motor into 3rd Gen Question
the most common mounts used for the f-bodies seems to be the spohn mounts. But remember that you'll have to grab a 4th gen fbody oil pan; that truck one will be wayyy too low.
Harness-wise, this can get interesting. you can make your own, i also know Pocket's got one for sale in the classified section (was eying it myself, but gonna try to make mod my own). you can get creative, but there are a few write-ups from him on the very subject

what mounts do I need to install this into my 92 Z28
The SBC adapter plates are not compatible with 4th gen AC retrofits. If you are not reusing the 4th gen location AC, or are moving the compressor anywhere else, these will work fine and are generally a significant amount cheaper
bought this 6.0L cause I read that they are compatible with the LS2 heads
will any LS series motor harness work and the pcm

Standard location works best with 3rd gens. You can get forward/back adapters if this doesnt fit the bill, or you do it for a different vehicle
Tannys are up to you. Street cars work VERY well with any of the electronic transmissions, 4L60E, 4L65E, 6L80E etc. Older transmissions can be adapted very easily with the crank hub kit ($50ish). For an EFI swap, 700R4/4L60/200R4 are not the best choices because multiple additions must be made for things like TV cable mount, VSS compatibility etc. If going carb those work fine, with a beefy rebuild of course
Ill send a PM in a few minutes about the harness
what makes up an lsx swap?

I highly recommend getting a harness from Pocket if you're not comfortable with doing the wiring yourself. I used one of his harnesses in my own swap and it works flawlessly.

go to www.hotrodlane.cc they have done it all.
I just finished 03' 6.0 SS swap into a 97' Chevy Tahoe sent my ecm to them to remove V A T S and emissions used my orig. 4l60e with a 05' program there are quite a few things that are sneaky, like flexplate, flexplate spacer, and flexplate bolts, dont forget the fuel, ac is climate control (runs all time) motor plates, etc.
