fuel injectors

Hey, swappin in an LQ9 engine. Building from the ground up. Need to know which FAST fuel injectors to get. Probly going to run a relatively high lbs hour rating on my injectors and limit with a fuel pressure regulator.

http://www.fuelairspark.com/Products...rs'-0.aspx

follow the above link to see what i am lookin at. According to FASTs formula I need around 34 lbs hour for a roughly est. peak hp of 500.

I do not know if i need the high impedence or the low impedence.

Other than that... i will probly get a 65 lb hour injector to support future mods and limit with a fuel pressure regulator as stated above.

For now my engine will be naturally aspirated and will remain so for serveral years.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If it is going to be several years before the next power step, it would make more sense to get the proper injectors for your current configuration.

re: fuel injectors

I agree with what five7 said, I did the same thing in my Mustang and went with 30's instead of 24's and it ran like crap and really rich. I regretted it after I did it and ended up going back to 24's.

re: fuel injectors

The part numbers that five7 posted are for the L92 heads, it's the same one for the LS3/L76/L99 motors as well. Also, don't forget you may also need to go with the FAST fuel rail as well with it.

"14 HP increase".

What is that, about $100 per pony?

Okay, okay, an LS3 intake will run you $375. So that's only $75/HP.

re: fuel injectors

$949.95 for the intake

$557.95 for the TB

$274.95 for 8 injectors

$1782.85 to get 26hp........

seems a little pricey to me.

It could be argued that you would have to buy all of those pieces anyway. I'll be doing L92 heads for the '57 project, so I've got this staring at me in the near future.

I already picked up a new slightly damaged (vacuum fitting broken off that I won't be using anyway) L76 intake for $175. I'm looking at a 90mm TB for $425. I'll have to get injectors and fuel rails, haven't priced them yet - assume another $100 over your injector prices.

Assuming the 26 HP delta is real (and I'm skeptical), that's still $35/HP.

I'll live with 26 HP less.

re: fuel injectors

Oh, I'm sorry....I read on the wrong intake....DUH....this is what they say

Testing on a stock LS3 engine with a Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™ produced gains of 14+ horsepower and 11+ ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel over the stock intake.
The 26hp was on a 500ci LSx block engine with LS7 heads.

Now that combo makes even less sense to buy.

The FAST probably gains more as the hairiness of the engine increases.

I expect my cammed 402 cid L92 headed LQ4 to easily outrun the current 396 in the '57 (even though it will just have an L76 intake. . .).

re: fuel injectors

One of the mahazines just put a new Camaro SS into the mid 11s with the stock intake. They tried the FAST 102, and it was worth exactly NO improvement at all. even with Mast heads, Mast cam, headers, and exhaust, they still didn't need the FAST 102. And right now, there're NO LSx heads on earth that'll outflow the Mast offerings. So to benefit from the FAST102, you're gonna need an awfully big stroker with the Mast heads.

Re: fuel injectors

roger that. so for now it will just look pretty sittin up there on top of the engine.

in the future tho, when i get some rockin afr's on there... maybe then i will see the potential of the fast intake.

as always, input is much appriciated!

Re: fuel injectors

What Atilla is trying to tell you is, MAST makes the biggest baddest heads for the LS series motors and didn't see any improvement with the FAST intake over the stock LS3 intake. The 102 is for people using big turbos so it will move the air through, he like myself and five7 don't want to see you waste money on something that's not needed in a N/A situation.
