well i wish you could get that sound without making it unusable for most. Im slowly learning what i really want in a cam. But i thought it would be fun to know what cams out there are just killer sounding

The nasty sounding cams are hell to live with in a daily driver. COMP's Thumpr cams are good for a nasty sound but still decent torque and driveability, but even the smallest belongs in a 383 stroker, and even then will be difficult to tune your EFI for. It'll give incredible upper-midrange. It'd be a good match for LT4-style heads and Edelbrock's LT4 Air Gap intake. Start with 4.10:1 rear gears.

They do, but not listed as LT1 (probably because of the dowel pin). http://www.summitracing.com/search/M...ord=thumpr+cam

There were several listed, including retrofit. The non-retrofit ones had 2200-5900 RPM powerbands claimed.

comp will grind a thumpr Lt1 cam for you if you want them to, just tell them thats what you want. costs the same as ant other LT1 cam would through them.

Re: nastyist sounding cam in a lt1?
Elliott is making a pretty good name for himself in the LTx world. If you ask him for a nasty cam, I'd bet he could also help you get a well-matched tune. COMP can't offer anything like that.

Re: nastyist sounding cam in a lt1?
TPIS zz9 or zz409, the 409 being a bit bigger, would both sound pretty nice and also run well.
TPIS says that the zz409 is their best seller for the LT1. It must be for a reason.

Re: nastyist sounding cam in a lt1?
they just seemed stuck on the thumpr cams, elliott would probably be a much better go to guy for this, he could match a cam to the motor better than just grabbing and off the shelf.
