LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Does anyone have a picture of how they modified their LT1 throttle bracket to fit the 90-92 thirdgen throttle cable? I'm assuming I just need to file off the nub that stops it from sliding over all the way, but then what will hold it from popping back out the side?

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
I filed down the piece on the throttle cable itself and not had any problems at all with it.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
the connection to the accelerator and to the TB is the same between the thirdgen and lt1?

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Klortho... any luck?
SomeGuy... the connection to the TB is the same if youre using the later style thirdgen cable. Its either 89-92 or 90-92. I bought it from the dealer for $27. The earlier style cable like my car had originally has an eyelet at the end and fits over a shaft on the throttle body. The later style is like the LT1 and is a cable that fits over a cam on the throttle body.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Thanks for the pictures Klortho. Do you ever have problems with it sliding sideways on the bracket? I doubt that would be an issue.
I think my '93 bracket is a little different but I should be able to modify it similarly.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Ok, so If i get the bracket assembly from the intake from an LT1 and use a 90-92 throttle cable I am good to go?
What about using some other universal throttle cable?
Dont have any junk yards near me to get used parts so most of everything i get is new or from dealer.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
IIRC I went to the dealer and asked for a '91 Z28 throttle cable. As for sliding sideways, no but I do have the cover on it as well so it isn't going anywhere.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Ok i ordered a throttle cable from GM and an LT1 throttle cable bracket. lets see how this goes when it all comes in.
I'll post up pics to try and clearly show what needs to be done as well for others.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
how long is the thirdgen throttle cable? I just ordered a new GM throttle cable for 87-92 and the cable looks like it cant even reach the pedal. gonna try and run it tomorrow and make sure.
Klortho - what cover are you talking about to keep the cable from sliding off? Im thinking of just making two tiny holes to rig up a safety wire to keep it from wanting to slide out.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
'87 cable will be different, it has to be from a '90-'92. I specifically said '92 Z28 (ordered it from a chevy dealer) for mine. I had a cover on my LT1 that hides where the cable hooks onto the TB shown here

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Here's a picture from a '97 LT1 (92 TPI cable, 97 LT1 cable, 97 LT1 bracket). I'm guessing I'll have a bit more filing to the bracket to make it work?

I couldn't figure out the 'nub' that everyone kept talking about that needed to be ground down. I guess (at least) the '97 bracket is slightly different.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
There are sometimes different ways to do things.
I didn't modify the bracket when installing my TPI cable. I modified the TPI cable instead by removing just a little bit of the plastic tab of the cable with some wire cutter pliers.

Re: LT1 Throttle Bracket Modification
Yeah, I feel pretty dumb now.
Took another look at it to see about modifying the cable itself. I didn't even cut off the tangs, just pried them up.

thanks!
