Re: another lsx swap

Is the A/C system operational? If so, how did you wire it/make it work? Just had an '05 GTO LS2 installed in my '06 IROC. The shop tells me that they won't be able to get the A/C working properly.

I accidently erased their email to me, but it was something about how the computer turned on the compressor. I've got the compressor to work but I had to jumper the high pressure switch plug. They're using the 3rd gen two pin switch. I've read the 4th gen three pin high pressure switch needs to be used. They've also told me that they talked to Hawk's and Hawk's said they don't know of anyone having a working LS2 A/C system in a 3rd gen car.

Getting cruise to work in a DBW system is another issue I'm not giving up on.

Any help in these problems would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: another lsx swap

Chill e. Yes my a/c is operating correctly..but I feel like my high pressure switch isn't working properly..Anyways I'm not too sure on the ls2 or dbw. I'm working with the ls1 set up and ecms are completely different if I got the ls1 compressor to work I'm sure the pin lay out on the ls2 etc is similar and can get anycompressor to kick .

its not hard to do at all!

did they swap in the eng harness and leave the ls2 a/c ends? (psi sensor and a/c clutch pigtail) since the its a ls2 a/c did you have the bcm installed too?

Re: another lsx swap

They had to get/make another set of wires for the high press sensor. They said they wired it exactly like a 2000 Camaro system, but it wouldn't kick on the a/c compressor at all. Then they reinstalled the 3rd gen high press sensor. The a/c kicks on but then goes off; acting like there's not enough freon. A friend of mine checked freon and found that the condensor (new 3rd gen) seems to be hot. He cooled it off with water and pressures were good. We're thinking I may need to get a fan on the front side to help keep it cool. This and re-installing the 4th gen high press switch will hopefully do the trick. Oh yeah, the bcm was not installed. Anyone have any thoughts?

I am at work so I do not have the schematic available to be able to show you but while the high pressure sensor is a direct feed to the PCM
the A/C Request comes to it via the BCM. Unfortunately from what what I have researched the BCM talks to the PCM in GM HSLAN via the PIM. Which means there is a need for the PassKey transmitting key and all that module synching BS. I am running into these exact same limitations in planning my LS2 swap.

how do u have the condensor mounted?and is it gettin sufficient air from the fans? this might be one of my problems on my a/c the 4th gen condensor didnt fit infront of my aluminum radiator so its mounted a bit further away. it appears that my temperatures might drop if it had its own fan. i believe the coolant also plays a vital role in this if you are running a heater control valve.

Re: another lsx swap

harness was bought off of tgo member pocket. quality stuff!! looks really good.
ls7 clutch kit off the typical deals on the ls1tech sponsor sales along with the bell housing.
aluminum radiator and all the nice 6an fittings for the fuel are awaiting.
t56 tranny and shifter was recently purchased.

the only things i need as of now are t5 pedals a lot better than the t56 pedals.
t56 torque arm mount that goes in the back .
clutch master cylinder assembly with reservoir.

everything is going to be assembled in one piece. the day its ready to go i will be pulling out the stock tpi. as of now i am parting out a 01 ws6 which will supply me with much of the wiring that is necessary for this project to be done right and look right. pin for the cluster gauges, headlight switch, h vac controllers, evap, and most importantly the fuel pump wiring.

hes excited to drive this car with the new motor. hes stepping up to some real power

Re: another lsx swap

That car is gonna be super nice. How does the firewall plate that youre intalling to prevent firewall flex look like? And do you mount it on the inside och outside of the firewall? I made one for my car out of 2mm thick aluminum, and mounted it on the inside of the firewall. My plate is approx 7x3,5". But I´m not sure if it´s doing anything to prevent it from flexing ;-)
Cool with those black wheels. I actually ordered wheels just like that from Toms Wheels 5 years ago in 18 all around, but they got them damaged, so I ordered the chome versions instead, otherwise my white -89 would have looked almost exactly like that.
So what do yuou think. I will be in California in between July 25-aug 5:th, will there be any 3:rd gen stuff going on?

Looking good, it might be too much power going from a stock TPI to cam'd LS1!! I might have to step it up and get a Fast intake as well.
