I think you use a 350TPI fuel pump for a third gen.

Atleast thats what I plan on using.

A TPI pump will be enough to run the LT1, for the higher power builds, look to the tried and true 255

Theres just something unappealing about a JY pump...

Do it right the first time, or you'll be hating yourself for having to swap the fuel pump again if the JY one fails soon.

Re: fuel pump advice - lt1 into 87 camaro

thanks guys - i still have the fuel pump from the 4th gen - but wasn't sure if it would fit in the tank off the 87 - wasn't sure if the opening was the same. I am looking at gettin a new pump though - as the engine coming out had a mechanical fuel pump. know the tank will prob not fit from one gen to the other - and my ex punched a hole in the top of the 94's tank to siphon fuel out - dumb dumb dumb.
budget is small for new parts - may just switch the 94's over for now and buy the other later - thinkin about making an access panel to top of tank in the hatch of the 87 too.
i'm not afraid of extra work, and i'm not gonna be racing this one either - just wanna be driving my two fav camaros again - in one LOL

you *should* have an intank pump on the 87; i've got one myself. it was a lower pressure helper pump. however, you may want to check your sending unit. i dont believe i saw any threaded fittings on mine, so you will want to change your so the rubber lines dont blow out due to excess pressure.

Swapping in a EFI sender from any V6/V8 3rd gen will get around the rubber lines

A diagram with PNs shows all the fittings required to run a full braided SS AN6 line from the tank to fuel rails

your chart's saved on my computer for when it comes time for me to tackle my fuel system.

cleigh23 - there's a guy in the classifieds who's got a few of the senders for pretty cheap. new can be over $160+, he's got some used ones for about $50. grabbing one myself next week

Pretty much the same info being repeated here... first, do it once. If you plan to ever build this LT1 you will need a bigger pump than stock. A new 255 Walbro can be found on here or other sites like LS1Tech, Camaroz28.com etc. from people who bought one and went a different direction, etc. Case in point, I just bought one from a member here for $100 shipped. Brand new! and I have seen more for sale since...

Re: fuel pump advice - lt1 into 87 camaro

If you have a carb car with carb lines, you are best off swapping the entire lines from a fuel injected thirdgen and try to get ones where they haven't cut off the rubber line in the back by the tank. The salvage yard in Utica, NE should be able to help you out. Thats where I got mine from. The salvage yards in Lincoln always seemed to be overpriced. And just hit the salvage yard in Kearney last week and they have at least 5 thirdgens sitting out there.
