Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Ok, I calld Sand and street and they assured me that my pcm ran on their engine and that it was in fact reflashed. So i do believe that my injectors are clogged or stuck. So i will soak them in injector cleaner and check my wiring while they are soaking overnight.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Quick question, the neutral or neg. side of the injectors, are 1,3,5,7 should go a common wire then to inj 1 on the c207. And injectors 2,4,6,8 neutral side to inj 2 on the c207. Or do i have it wrong?

Try this. All pink injector wires on each bank are connected together on a common and bank 1 goes to Inj 1 on the c207 and bank 2 goes to Inj 2.

The other wire on each injector is routed to the PCM and it grounds each one individually to fire it.

Yeah, thats what i thought. But I put 25 amp fuses in between the common connections and inj 1(207) and inj 2 (207). Should those be removed and run straight wire?

Yes. The whole point of running them to the C207 in those slots is because they are already fused power.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Ok, i rewired all my fuel injectors, and they all are in the correct location. i checked the voltage and i get 12 volts from the pink wires but nothing from the pcm. An also if i check between the pins on the connector reads 0 So pink wires to grounds = 12v(key on and starting) pcm to ground= 0 (key on and starting) Between the pins on connectors =0 ( key on/ starting). So what you guys think? Mail order reflash = fail or what?

If I'm reading you correctly you are not getting any injector pulse while cranking the motor over? That would mean that your PCM is not grounding the injectors as it should. So now either your reflash was garbage OR not all of your PCM grounds are good.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Well, i decided to mess with the injectors one last time. My buddy told me to take them out, hook each one up to the battery and a hose, pure fuel in it to see if it sprays out. And guess what, every single one of those injectors was clogged. None of them even clicked, so i tapped and tapped and tapped until they all freed up a little. Reinstalled and fired it up. IT RAN FOR A WHILE. I'm relieved to know the problem. THANKS for the help everyone. Vids to come after new fuel injectors arrive.

Yes, she lives, it's alive. But i do have some problems. The two that concern me the most are my one of my turbos is leaking oil all over the place, the seals are bad it. Also have this knocking noise when i rev the engine only. I'm hoping is spark knock. Anyway to tell? I hope it not the bearings?

No, Atlas Shrugged...

Seems to be running rough as well. Sounds like a couple of cylinders are switched in firing order.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

deff have a dead cylinder or 2. i would pull each injector connector off while its idling and see which one or two dont change when you unplug it. thats the easy way to find out which cylinder it is without a scan tool. The "knock" i hear in the vid sounds like detonation most likely caused by the engine lugging due to the misfire. get that misfire fixed and i bet that knock will fix also at the same time

When I first got the LS1/4L60E running again last week it was only running on 7 because the #1 injector connector wasn't snapped down all the way. It didn't knock like that at all.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

I also noticed that sometimes it wont start without having the throttle being wide open and others it would start with no problem. I will recheck my ignition wiring and also see if all new injectors are working. The injectors are slightly larger that the stock ones. Wounder if that also has something to do with the knock?

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

I don't know FI but I would think that larger injectors wouldn't make that much difference with the knock. The computer should adapt and provide more air for the mixture right? Sounds like the cylinder isn't firing or is weak like said before. Still here Willie! Not too much longer though!

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Well, I decided to hold off on the turbos for now. Got true duals ran on it with mangaflow mufflers. But I still can't find out what that Freakin rattling or knocking is. It doesnt do it on idle only revving. And i swapped MAF and IAT sensors with the ones in my GMC and it still does it. Rechecked all the wiring. But one thing that does question me. Is that i was looking a wiring diagram that i printed from here and the not all the IAC controls are used. Only the the first one, whats the reason for this? Always any more suggestion for the rattle. knock sensors maybe?

Well your knocking noise is not something that is going to be easily diagnosed over the internet, even with HD sound quality it would still probably be a crapshoot.

And what do you mean by "not all the IAC controls are used"? Idle air control is a vital function for the motor.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

I made a mistake not the IAC controls. I meant the ignition controls, the pinout that i used only has ignition control #1 being used. But i thought this was a mistake and wired in all 8 of them. I used these pinouts and there is not a "x" mark by all the Ignition controls. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...rt-finish.html

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Maybe pocket can chime in but I believe he either forgot to mark them or figured they were self explanatory. But ALL 8 coils must be wired to the PCM other wise you would not have any way for the coils to know when to spark and they would not fire.

If you are worried about whether or not they are working correctly invest in a spark checker that plugs inline between the spark plug and plug wire, very cheap and very useful.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Wow its been awhile since i posted on here. Having too much fun driving my car. I finally fix all my old problems, Fuel pressure issues, fix with a new fuel pump, tank, FPR, and lines. And knocking sound (rewired everything again) I also took it to the 1/8 mile track. I have to say I'm really impressed for a stock 5.3: 1.6/60', 8.7 @82. Up next is a cam, a 125 shot(which i have just been too lazy to install) and a tune from Mayhiem Motorsports. If i can get 400 rwhp or close to it ill been satisfied till next year. Oh and that 1.6/60' was on street tires.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap

Update still haven't used the nitrous yet, but did make it to darlinton 1/4 mile track over thanksgiving. This was my time, my reaction time I slowly getting better. I but I can't seem to get to a 1.6 60' foot time with these street tires. I think my time is pretty good for a basically stock 5.3.

So what exactly was the cause for the knocking sound?

If I remember correctly I had one the ignition wire in the wrong pin. I rewired this like three times before it was working right and looked the way I wanted it too. Finally I just said forget it , she's running no problems, I'm driving it.

So I figure I try this turbo thing again. Do you guys think a Master Power super 70 F-2 p/n 802128-063 will be able to feed a 5.3, for 8 lbs?
