305 TPI to 350 TPI, what would you re-use? OR LT1 swap?
car is a 92 B4C/1LE 305 TPI
going from the 305 TPI to the 350TPI i know the crank and rods are the same in each engine.
i have an L98 block that came out of an 89 Corvette with only 65k miles on it.
my 305 TPI currently has 152k miles, would you re-use the crank and rods to put into the 350? of course i will use all new bearings.
my other question is heads.. i know the 305 heads use a 1.84 intake valve, would it be worth it to have them cut to accept the 1.94 and use the 305 heads?
cam i will be using is a 93 LT1 cam, and proform 1.5 roller rockers
and the last question, is about pistons and rings.. anyone have a preference on a piston and ring set? want to use hyperutectic flat tops with 4 valve reliefs.
OR.. go LT1 since they are now selling complete for $650-900 and yes i already have the LT1 T56....
how much extra will i spend swapping the LT1, no A/C
thanks for the help

Crank and rods the same....not true.
The crank is the same # but because the pistons and rods are lighter, it is different.
No way I would use the 305 heads.
I use the 305 crank when I am using lighter 350 pistons and rods, it doesn't need to have as much material removed to balance it.

thanks for the info Don
so basically i can only use the 305 crank.. need new rods.. then have them re-balanced.. then new heads... damn and i was planning on assembling this engine myself once its back from the machine shop getting cylinder honed. Now i would need to have them assemble it unless i buy a new 350 crank.
im looking at over $1500 just in the short block, machine work, parts and heads..
damn.. might as well buy this guys 96 Camaro LT1 complete engine that has 70k miles thats right around the corner, comes with everything, wiring, PCM, manifolds.. perfect working order... $900.. starting with a better base engine, just swap the cam and springs (already have LS6 springs) and im over 300rwhp.. which is perfect for me..
just dont want to do the wiring...
unless you know of a way to build a cheaper 350 short block
