My 1992 Z28 is gettng a ls1 FINALLY

As the title says, Here we go...

Had a Supercharged 383, Turbo 350 Trans, Ect

I spent the past weekend pulling the motor, trans, exhaust, computer, wiring harness, everthing so i can paint the engine bay too

Sold the long block and intake to start & finish up this build.......I have more sb1 parts FOR SALE

But I wanted something a little more driveable. An LSX's i hear are alot easier to work on too.........

So Now I have the Following:

1. 2002 Ls1
Ls6 intake, Ls6 springs, Ls6 cam
2. T56 Trans
Completely new stage 2 rebuild, with stage 2 clutch
3. Wiring harness is being done by "pocket", he already has it now.

I will post pics later, as I am sure i will have questions

Sounds like a hot little toy

LSx engines are alot easier to work on. Plug change took me 5 mins with my 5.3 vs 3 hours on my old 305 if that tells you anything

BTW, harness should be done Wed

I'll never change another sbc header gasket again.

Are you keeping the A/C?

Yea me too, waiting on parts to get here & the rebuilt trans to be finished.

Does anyone have part numbers for the following:
1. The c5 fuel filter
2. All the fuel fittings to complete that part of the swap

Just checking

Almost feels like I am getting a new car

The anticipation is killing me............

Is there a specific year or years on the c5 vette filter?
And my understanding is it has a built in regulator, Yes or no?

Thanks,

99-04 Corvettes. But that part number gets you a filter by Wix. Much cheaper than the GM version and just as good.

Note that if you get the lokar throttle cable you will have to do some modifying as it won't just attach to the pedal.

Hello,
What is the chance of having the part number also? Seems I will need to get the throttle cable bracket too!

I got mine from Flow chevy about 2 years ago. Might have gone up since, but its $5-10, woo

Match the cable to your TB, 98-99 are different than 00-02. If your cable doesnt match the TB, youll have to bend the gas pedal arm a little more. Not the end of the world

12552278 Bracket
Bolts are M6x1x30
12565559 Early throttle cable
12565560 Late throttle cable

Oh, and bookmark this site. Makes finding PNs for ANY GM car a breeze

And i also got the 4th gen pedals in the car too....
I need to get the trans back, I didn't get to pick it up this weekend as planned. i need the master cylinder to line it up with pedals better.

I think this is the half way point for me! I can start putting stuff back on the car now!

Re: My 1992 Z28 is gettng a ls1 FINALLY

Well,

The Forth Gen pedals DID NOT WORK, for me anyway!
I found a used set of thirdgen pedals for $45.00 from a local thirdgen parts guy (Nathan Day) & they worked out perfect!

So the got the following DONE:
1: Clutch Master Cylinder is installed
2: Pedals are installed
3: Spohn Motor mounts are installed
4: Picked up the T56 trans, flywheel, clutch, slave and master cylinder from "Texas Drivetrain Performance"
5: picked up all the fuel fittings
6: picking up Hurst shifter tomorrow
I want to have the motor in by this weekend..........BUT

I want to take out the steering gearbox to degrease again, paint it black, so that next! It it almost out , so that will be done wednesday night!

Re: My 1992 Z28 is gettng a ls1 FINALLY

Well,
I am updating now.........
After finally somewhat understanding my problem! Sphon ls1 mounts only work with a stock k-member or a spohn k-member. My Tubular K-member was made by American Race Components in Dallas, TX. I got the k-member a couple years ago not knowing i would be doing a LSX swap, long story short, the kmember i have works with a sb1 350 motor only! So after reading-seeing other people swaps on here and doing google search and found these and bought them:

http://dirtydingo.com/store/product_...oducts_id=1322

and i am almost done now... i have alot of pics to add .........

The past two weeks:
I put the motor back in
and the t56
headers
fuel lines
radiator and fans
the shifter & the shfter boot
the console stuff

the wiring harness FROM POCKET! I will highly recomend his work and will possibly buy another for the vert ls1 swap, stay tuned for that one!
and his tech support( thats what i call it) is great too........

I still have a few thing to do tonight, I might even see if i get it toi fire up, maybe..........

Nice find on those motor mounts! A bit pricey but they look like they could save LOTS of headaches.

I would be done if i had these mounts to start with!!!

It is my fault for not doing more research and just read the forums more and don't skim through stuff.

Well,
I took the car to the muffler shop & to get tuned Thursday night hoping they would have it ready by Saturday, and not ready as of yet. .........

It felt really good backing it out of the garage and on to the trailer though!

Re: My 1992 Z28 is gettng a ls1 FINALLY

Hello,
I got my camaro back from the exhuast shop this morning. I had the y-pipe made to tie into the long tubes & Borla. The Borla is a 4th gen setup with the adjustable plates. At first i wasn't sure i about it (really quiet, kinda steathy) But when you rev up the motor it sounds GOOD!!!!! I will have video in a couple of days.....

And They also tuned the the computer for the car with a speed density tune. Sam Miller is the Tuner & he tunes alot of high HP cars. There was a new vette over there he was working on & he said quote " IT ONLY MADE 656 TO THE WHEELS WITH THE NITROUS". I asked if that was good for the setup & he said he has gotten use to 900 + hp cars, so 656 feels like a stock car to him....................

so my car must feel like a v6 camaro or something.................
