Identifying LT1 in 94 Caprice
Identifying LT1 in 94 Caprice
I need a little help identifying an engine in a 94 Caprice made in 9/93. It looks like an Lt1 but it has a serpintine belt and in front a regular fan belt with a fan. There is also an electric fan. Here's a picture of what it looks like with fan and shroud, not actual, just one I found. This picture shows a mechanical fan shroud like on the caprice I am looking at but shows the altenator to have a serpintine belt.
Re: Identifying LT1 in 94 Caprice
Found the answer! The mechanical fan was part of the towing option for increased cooling. Sometimes caprice/impala/flletwood owners convert to the other all electric fans. 2 electric fans instead of one electric and one mechanical.

But I didn't know what a silencer was till the post below you... the only silencer I knew of was illegal to put on guns!
OK now I know what that thing on top of the motor is!

A silencer quiets the whooshing sound a CAI makes. Its just an expansion canister built into the stock intake. Whenever you see a formed intake with a funky shape that juts out for no apparent reason, chances are its the silencer
