modifying clamshell for ac

I know I found the link somewhere, but I can't remember where. I need the link to the post for modifying the clamshell for the low mount LT1 AC compressor.

I found the link with a little more searching. If this link could be added to the frequent QA for LT1 swap that would be great. It also includes notching the subframe, with pictures.

Re: modifying clamshell for ac

Good stuff but I wouldn't put a bolt through the motor mount that attaches to the back of the compressor like in this pic.

I can see its purpose in that it provides extra support. The reason I wouldn't is because if you ever needed to remove the main accessory bracket for any reason and wanted to the ac compressor to have a little more play while removing stuff if ever needed to. I think the long motor mount bolt would need to be removed then the engine jacked up to get to the bolt that I don't think is needed. Could be wrong though.

I understand your point, but that is the cheapest solution I've found so far. The relocation bracket isn't in the budget right now. there is a chance that the bolt can be snuck out.
