Re: LSx
im currently 95% done, but i added in a medium restoration as well, 5 months working on the car, 10 months total time between car and parts gathering. $6000 spent so far.
Re: LSx
First time:
$2000, 9 months to assemble all the parts
5 very long days from driving the 305, to driving the 5.3
Second time:
$600, replaced the 5.3 with another 5.3, built a blower kit
3 months for fabrication
3rd time, first serious power build:
$3500, 6 months down time for parts, money and fabrication, actual swap took about a week

Re: LSx
More or less
The engine itself is very cheap, but the necessary Fbody parts that come free with an alum 5.7 are not cheap, so the total package is generally the same or a bit higher
Also factored in are the people fab alot of the parts themselves so the cost is significantly lower, compared to the people who "only want to do this once" and mod the crap out of the engine with the swap, so the cost is higher
