didn't get much this weekend. i was all amped up to do some work, and then lost all motivation for whatever reason. i did get my new sc buick injectors installed, power steering pump installed, and the shift boot put on my trim plate. all intentions were pointed towards reinstalling the rear end, but i only got as far as hanging the new shocks.

thanks cprmn14, it turned out better than i expected it to look.
nasty...i keep seeing that same cam all over tech now....not thinkin' it was too custom spec'd anymore! haha, no more spec'd than adding the +4 to my 112.
got my frost tuned computer back, my intake bolts are lost somewhere in the mail, and still waiting on my aeroforce interceptor gauge.

more good stuff in the mail/fedex today. my aeroforce interceptor gauge came in, umi subframe connectors, and my filler panel to close up the spot where the tpi air filters went.

tomorrow i'm planning on dropping the hammer on the exhaust, i've made up my mind to try the hedman husler mid-length headers, and i will be capping everything off with a hooker aerochamber and some cme tips.

Looking forward to seeing your red/white engine in that engine bay. It should look really sweet with that satin black background.

Mid length headers? I thought only the 4thgen manifolds and shorties are all that will fit other than the hawks long tubes.

hedman husler makes a full line, the long tubes have a strange flat collector...doesn't provide any access to the starter. they also make a mid-length header with an 1 3/4" primary and 3" collector. i was told the tubes are all 18-22" in length.
do a search for "brp headers" or "hedman husler", there are a couple of threads.

so my exhaust is in route: husler mid-length headers, hooker aerochamber, flowmaster merge, 3" electric cutout, and some other necessary evils for the build. i've got a surprise finish for this exhaust, a nice little custom touch that should compliment the tail end well(decided against the cme tips)......

Re: 91 Z/28 6.0L/T56
made some progress today: got the rearend put back in, the right axle seal is leaking, but i'm planning to do an 8.8 anyways; tried to make a 4th gen washer bottle work, but my front end has been hit and has a bow in it that won't allow it to work(it will be for sale in the classifieds); installed my harness, and took care of the wiring necessary for the neutral safety switch and the reverse lights.
messed around with the old computer bracket but didn't come up with anything i liked, i"ll get some sheet metal tomorrow and make something happen, maybe.
last night i made a trip to kc and picked up a 4" aluminum driveshaft with a spicer yoke and u-joints. also scored a flowmaster 3" intermediate with over axle pipe for $50.
need to get the engine and tranny in and cut the hole for the shifter. still lacking intake bolts(mine are lost in the mail, and the dude i bought them from doesn't answer my messages), flywheel bolts, alternator bolts, and some more ambition.

teaser pic of the headers...this is from the VP of Marketing at Hedman. this is everything included with the headers, O2 bungs come with, but have to be welded in.

Big difference between the driveshafts. Those headers will fit a third gen? I might be willing to give them a try if they do. They look nice!

dprest....these mid-lenghts are specifically for 3rd gen fbodies.
ssantac, that was sprayed from a hvlp gun in my garage. John Deere Blitz Black is an awesome color, its very durable and doesn't chalk like a primer will. i've painted a few hotrods with it with great success. the best way to describe it is a flat satin....i guess. the heavier the coats the more satin it looks. the lighter the coats, the more flat it looks.

Good to see this build is coming along and it looks awsome. Ive almost lost motivation to finish mine this year. All I need is to get an exhaust done and a tune so i might wait till next year. Looking froward tho to you end result. Where did you mount the power block from pockets harness??

Re: 91 Z/28 6.0L/T56, Husler Mid-Length Headers
i have searched for every available option on headers for our swap, i'm pretty sure on this board i am the guinea pig. i've literally got weeks of searching high and low for a low cost option to the hawks long tubes. these should be a nice mid ground for those who can't justify $800+ for headers.
when i put my order in, i asked the guys if they had sold any sets before. i wasn't given a number, but apparently i'm not the first to purchase.

Re: 91 Z/28 6.0L/T56, Husler Mid-Length Headers
made some serious progress this weekend:
installed the clutch and pressure plate, bolted the engine and tranny together, put the engine/tranny in the car, finished up the fuel line, cut shifter hole, filled the tranny, installed the new Hurst shifter, put in the aluminum driveshaft, installed the headers, and had a beer.
the Hedman Husler mid-lengths when in great. driverside from the bottom and passenger side from the top. no serious clearance issues. i had to adjust some brake lines on the driver side, and will have to do some clearancing on the passenger side collector clamp. overall, i'm very pleased with them, there is about 3/16 of clearance between the passenger side frame rail and header, but i don't think there will be any issues. not sure how they would fit with a 4L60E.
getting closer, i'm holding off on buying coolant until i get everything checked over twice...that way i don't start it too early.

it's very difficult to install the engine/tranny from the top by yourself, and i wouldn't recommend it. when cutting the shifter hole with your pneumatic saw and it quits...haha, pull out the plasma cutter and the wet towel. i have regained my momentum and am ready to carpe the diem!

nice
looks to be a sung fit wonder how well those headers will work with my th350 for now till i get my t56. i had the cutoff one ear on the pass side of the trans bellhousing to build my current y pipe already.

I would try to get the brake lines farther away from the header tubes. On the driver side, I tucked them behind the steering shaft.

But seriously... nice progress! Looks like a pretty tight fit. Keep up the good work. You'll have that thing running in no time.
