for the meantime yes....i'm going to have to baby the 10 bolt anyways, once i get my subframe connectors burned in and my dyno tune, i'll probably follow you with the bmr trakpak. hopefully an 8.8 is in the future with some decent gears....how does your 6 speed like the 3:55's? i was considering 3:73's, not sure though.

Those headers do look nice, think Ill use them for my next swap
I agree with five7kid, move the brake lines behind the steering shaft. Every set of headers Ive messed with required that, SBC and LSx in 3rd gens
Also, push the harness bundle behind the pass valve cover. As it sits, it looks very close to the header. You want atleast 1" from the primary. If you cant get it to move back, get some reflective tape

pocket, the harness was just laid up there, i haven't finished routing it yet...i've to got lengthen the hvac connector wires a bit, they won't reach in the configuration you sent to me(no big deal, looks like maybe it would be for a non-ac car). i'll have to look into moving the brake lines, i did bend them further out of the way after taking the pictures. if i do more bending, i'll take the steering shaft out, i don't want to open up the brake system if possible.
thanks for all the helpful replies guys!
i hope to have it running next weekend.

installed the front drive accessories and got the exhaust fab'd up to the cutout. lacking the correct oil pressure sender, a couple of 90* elbows, connecting the harness up, sealing the intake down, and a few other minor things, and i'll be hitting the switch.

it runs! like a scalded dog....all i can say is wow. now time to button up all the little things. made a run last night after i brought it down off the jackstands, it was still pulling hard at the top of 4th.
need to work on routing the intake around the washer reservoir, need to do some adjusting on the exhaust(and finish up the back half), lost my switch for the cutout(?wtf), get the clutch dialed in a little better, dyno/street tune it, and put the hood on....haha.
it fired right up, hardly crancked over, only had a few fightings to tighten up. the tune from frost is pretty close, idle seems to bounce a little, but not terrible.
video and some more pics to come later to day.

Car sounds great. I'll be picking up a set of those headers for sure when I have the money. My frost tune will wonder on idle sometimes too but I've found the more ru. Time it gets the better just how it was on my Yukon. Yours seems to be a little rich like mine also when you reved it. Hopefully I can get mine dyno tuned in the spring or atleast buy hp tuners.

added another ground to the back of the engine, seems to run even better. the idle is cleaned up, it no long searches for idle, and throttle response is crisp! can't wait to get the exhuast finished up and the hood back on.

Re: 91 Z/28 6.0L/T56, Husler Mid-Length Headers
update:
the car continues to run great. i'm taking it in tomorrow to finish up the back half of the exhaust and to get the subframe connectors welded in. i would do the sf connectors, but i hate welding upside down over my head, and a bad shoulder makes it even worse.
i'm still up in the air on what to do about exhaust tips, my idea i had has been put on the back burner for now...i think i will just tuck them up with turndowns for the time being. but, that can change by tomorrow morning, haha.
i've got an a-pillar pod ordered for my aeroforce gauge and some intake bends and straights to finish up my cai.
this car is going to get me in trouble, yet! its like being a teenager again, only with 2-3 times the car it was 12 years ago!

How much power do you think you will be down from say a set of 1 7/8" long tubes?

wow after some quick online shopping..those headers..mids or longtubes are worth trying! im not expecting perfect fitment..but that goes for any header i buy. i would have to make a another y pipe since my current one is dual 2.5 catted and then merged and stepped up to my already magnaflow 3 inch catback.

i think a lot of people over exhaust their cars, you need the correct size of pipe to create the scavaging effect, too big, and you lose all of it. a daily driven car doesn't need dual 3" exhaust.

Yeap, I was informed 1 3/4 was fine on my car. Dont want to overscavage the exhaust during overlap.

I'm curious with my all out power build on my 370/ls3 setup. I wasn't sure how bad 1 3/4" primary mids would hurt me.

just got the car back from the exhaust shop. didn't tuck the pipes as high as i wanted, but i can fix that. the hooker aerochamber sounds great! nice and quiet at idle, and gets loud and dirty when you stand on it. doesn't rap as quick through full exhaust, glad i put the cutout in.

Re: 91 Z/28 6.0L/T56, Husler Mid-Length Headers
A few years ago I took the '57 out to the track during a test & tune. I made a pass with full exhaust, uncorked the headers and made a pass, hooked the exhaust back up and made a pass, uncorked, etc. Tried to establish a trend without weather affecting the results. Sure felt quick with the headers uncorked. Timeslips, however, showed the full exhaust was quicker and faster in back-to-back runs throughout (6 passes total, as I recall - might have done more, but it was getting old crawling under the car between each pass).
Never trust the butt-dyno. The ear dyno is even worse.

it sure is nice in the cabin with no resonance, no blaring exhaust...has a great note when you hit the skinny pedal though. i think its quieter cruising than the old manifolds/no cats/flomaster on the L98.

here are some more random pictures from some of the finishing stages. i'm waiting on my new powersteering pump to get here so i can fix my leak issue. i was just going to do the reservoir, but decided to do the whole thing while i've got it off. i will also be adding the 2004 pontiac montana 3.4l pulley with the 3 holes for access to the bolts.
below are pictures of my cutout switch that is hidden in my ashtray(gotta love crinkle paint), my a pillar mounted interceptor gauge, some pic's of the intake routing, and the engine.
i need to get my cruise control bracket fab'd up, put some better turndowns on my tailpipes, and take her in for the final tune and dyno session.

Looking good!
Do you have more pics of your shifter?
For some reason my shifter is almost all the way to the right and hits the center console when I put in reverse.

i don't at the moment, but when mine is centered by the springs, its got plenty of clearance, but its close when i'm shifting into reverse. i'm running a hurst billet plus. what shifter do you have? one of the aftermarket shifters (pro 5.0 i think) has an offset stick that points the shifter more towards the driver.
