started the disassembly and unwiring process.
pulled the old engine and tranny out together by myself. wasn't as bad as everyone plays it out to be, i did this without my leveler as well. just get the rear end high and leave the front end on the ground.

notched the k-member and removed the engine mounts. all you need a set of long handled wrenches and an impact gun on top, and this also becomes an easy task.

Re: 91 Z/28 6.0L/T56
cleaned the engine bay, intalled the poly bushings in my engine mounts, made nut plates to install the new engine mounts, and boxed the k-member back in.
i absolutely cannot weld upside down over my head...no matter how much i practice. but what i burned on will work, and after the grinder it will look just fine. the top came out the best.

now time to por-15 the k-member, hang the new pedals, make the hole for the tick master cylinder, cut a hole for my pocket wire harness, and start on the cam swap in the engine.
cam choice has been very difficult. there are too many choices out there. i've considered:
Futral F13 112+4
Thunder Racing TruTorq LVL 4
TSP Torquer V3
Ed Curtis Streetsweeper HT
and Geoff at EPS spec'd me one like 1nasty86, 230/238 on a 113
i think i have decided on the F13, it is tried and true, and puts up great numbers.
the engine will get a set of long tubes (hopefully the new BMR's we've been hearing about), and an LS6 intake.

nasty it's a tough decision, i know i can make north of 400 with both hp and tq with the Futral cam(with a good tuner). i don't have all the good intake stuff up top like you have, not sure if the eps cam will do what i'm looking for with just an LS6 intake and headers.

some more goodies in the mail. heat sink coils and a spare set of valve covers that were included in the price. i hope to get some painting done this weekend on some the components; valve covers, coils/brackets, intake, fuel rails. also going to try and drop the axle and tank...which i think is full of fuel

didn't get as much done this weekend as i wanted....ended up working on racecars all day sunday. we've got new sbf strokers in 2 of the cars. one isn't running quite right, and, of course, its the one in my wifes car....
we did get the intake, valve covers, and coil packs painted. i made a template for the clutch master cylinder, and did some prep work underneath the car to drop all the tail end out of it.

two more boxes today....
one from Superior Chevrolet - F-body oil pan, windage tray, dipstick, LS7 lifters, timing chain, high volume oil pump, throttle cable, LS6 valley cover, etc.
and the other from Racetronix - new GSS340 pump kit with hotwire setup...also has the 15hp sticker mod(seen on top of everything in the box)

well...the bumpstick is in...time to get some stuff done. i've reserved the weekend for strictly wrenching!
also came across a sweet deal on an ls1 fbody f.e.a.d. with a 25% powerbond underdrive pully. so no more worrying about that.

well, we got quite a bit done this weekend. the wife helped me out on saturday. we got the pedals and tick MC installed. i hope i never have to change that MC, i may just sell the car.....
i also installed my ls1 throttle cable, with the bluezee washer mod...thanks nick!
she got the battery tray and k-member painted while i was drilling holes in the wrong place.
sunday i got the axle and tank dropped. put the new fuel pump in and started working on the engine. i got it disassembled and installed the cam, oil pump, timing chain, and new pan. worried about the oil pump bolt....i torqued it to spec, but i think it was too much.

guys, getting ready to drill my hole for the harness under the hvac box....
did anyone get into any plastic on the engine bay side or interior side? i'm very leary about where to drill the 2" hole...can't seem to find a good spot than i'm "comfortable" with.
and pictures or guidance would be appreciated. i searched, and found what i could, but ended up with more questions.

kinda hard to see but you get the idea. The 2" hole is near some existing screw holes in the lower side of the firewall. It didn't get into anything inside the car, besides the furry carpet insulation. Just go at it

In looking at your engine bay, one tip five7kid passed onto me was to run the brake lines inboard of the steering shaft, which really improves the room for headers, as well prevents the headers from heating up your brake fluid in the lines.
Build is coming together nicely. Looking great man!

hp52ta....it was the bolt for the pickup tube. i pulled on the tube and worked it around, everything seemed to be good and tight. i'll probably end up pulling the pan and checking it, just frustrating when you do things "to spec" and you get that gut feeling that it wasn't right.
i'll try and get some pictures up of the progress later today. sprayed the engine bay in JD Blitz Black, and got the hole drilled for my harness.

more to come this weekend, sunday is set aside for kicking some tail.
ordered a pickup tube girdle from BRP this week and installed it tonight. wanted a little extra piece of mind. i feel much better about the whole situation. going back and doing the pan and front cover again wasn't what i wanted to do!
took my heads in last weekend and picked them up today, had them checked over and comp 918's installed and height checked. waiting on my new lifter buckets so i can bolt everything back up with the ARP headbolts.

Not a problem man. Im close to having mine done as well. Just need to get my harness back from pocket and pretty much done then. I see you went with the ractronix hotwire kit. I got the same kit when I bought a LS1 tank from my friend that had it in his car. I still have to figure out where the purple, black and grey wires would connect to or if they do. Its the tanks shock connector wiring. I know where the rest goes LOL

installed the fuel tank, made most of the fuel line, just have to put the engine in to figure out the length of the line to the fuel rail.
worked on the "hotwire kit" from racetronix. need to get it zip stripped up.
got the lifters, lifter buckets, and heads installed. should have just went with the ARP stud kit. live and learn i guess.
broke a rocker bolt, but was able to get it out...and did some checking on pushrod length, still undecided if i need to go up to 7.425's.
ordered some rebuilt bosch white injectors from the supercharged buicks...flow 41.5@ 58psi.
still need to get the computer sent off for a base tune.
i'll try and get some pics up of the progress sometime this week.

Are those transdapt plates your using??
I have those same plates. The holes on the plate don't line up with the holes on the block. I've tried a few pairs and they all seem to be this way.
Is there some special way of putting them on?

made some good progress on the engine this weekend. installed the new trick flow 7.425" pushrods.
put in the knock sensors and finished up as much of the top end as i could, not sure on the intake yet, i may wait until after i get the engine put in.
the ebay engine mount plates required a small amount of grinding to clear one of the threaded bosses on the block. my sbc mounts also had a an area pressed out that required some grinding and then a few good whacks from a bfh. pictures below.
i'm near the end and it has given me a good boost to finish this project. just need to gather up some time!
