Lets start a monthly update thread...October

Hey guys,
On another forum (knight rider)I frequent we do monthly update threads for our projects. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting that kinda thing here?

If so, I'll start.

Money has been running tight since my last update in my build thread. The only thing I've bought for my project is my walbro fuel pump. If the deal doesnt fall through, I found a guy with 2002 camaro manifolds asking $20. The curse-ed camaro donor car I had finally sold the other day for a whole $300. Oh well...lesson learned, dont EVER wait to switch a title. After a yard sale I made another $100(isnt it nice my wife let me keep the money from "my" stuff!), and after my end of month check with all my overtime comes in I should be able to send my harnesses to pocket, and have enought to cover most if not all of the "unplanned" expenses that come with finally doing the swap.

Who's next???

+++UPDATE: Harness shipped out to pocket yesterday. Manifolds did not fall thru, in fact...he GAVE them to me!!! Now as in my other thread, on to looking for flanges on the cheap. Might be up and running by Christmas!

Re: Lets start a monthly update thread...October

The chevy truck forum I frequent has a similar weekly update thread. Good idea.

So far this month I got my cam ordered and installed. Next my valve springs come back off the heads to get shimmed .030.

Looking into differant intake options now. Maybe upgrading the TB , underdrive pulley maybe. Finish my AC install. Or just leave everything as is and drive it lol

Re: Lets start a monthly update thread...October

Not too much here. Just put a new magnaflow cat on last week, stock one finally came apart (and it wasn't blocked up so that's a nice sign). I bought a direct fit that didn't directly fit, had to get it welded as it was letting a LOT of exhaust out in front of the cat.

This week I need to straighten out and tighten my exhaust from the cat back (a little ****-eyed and it's leaking now) and replace my transmission mount that also finally gave after 23 years of service.

Next week I'm sure I'll find something else to replace. Whatever happens, I will be taking my Camaro off the road for the winter before long, sad face, so that my buddy who paints in his spare time can do some body work and paint it himself for only the cost of supplies, really effin happy face.

Blue car: looking for a good driveshaft for the car, not much else going on as my funds are being stored away for a paint job.

Purple car: the LT1/T56 combo are waiting patiently in the garage until the car is finished being painted.

Re: Lets start a monthly update thread...October

LS1 swap was just started in earnest last week. The car is stripped down ad work is well underway. I've got lots of parts ready to go in (guages, GTO CAI, Monster stage II clutch, headers, etc) I just need more time off work to progress.

While I am 2000 miles away from my ride in school...

Picked up a 4th Gen Coolant Res and a Washer bottle. Stripped down a 6.0 harness,

Will be prepping the 3rd gen harness in a couple weeks once I get back home. Also will be picking up the 02 Ls1 with H/C already installed. Will start prepping engine bay for paint also.

Re: Lets start a monthly update thread...October

I'm going to be honest, I just s#@+ myself a little bit seeing that lq9 squeezed into the third gen engine bay. That's gotta be a fun setup.

Anywho, just got my new transmission mount in place and straightened out my exhaust. I apparently didn't get one of the bolts next to the flange tightened up all the way and it slipped.

Now I've got some down time to sit around and stew on replacing my EGR valve that's stuck (or something). I'm going to do it, it's just a matter of when (just as it has been for like a month now, ha ha).

Re: Lets start a monthly update thread...October

this is what has happened in the last few weeks and what is coming up for before the end of the month

NOW:

I got my motor in last week with the tranny
Got the old gas tank out
Did my LS1 front brake upgrade
got a crap load of parts in and coming
Sent my harness to pocket

WHATS NEXT:

Swap new LS1 gas tank in
Wait for harness to come back to put in the car
finish putting the accessories on
make a few lines
get a alt and starter

Re: Lets start a monthly update thread...October

Im REAL close to firing up the L92 for the first time. Just a harness and mount fuel pedal away. Freshened everything this time. Things doen as of now are; New engine, rebuilt t56 with all upgrades save for face plating, new clutch, QT bell, re-set diff with new clutches in posi, fresh brakes, new tires, new fuel system, A/C delete ( never really used it last time so decided to clean up the look ) even a new BT head unit.

Plan is to run it and enjoy it until I get bored with this power level then TVS2300 will bolt right on and fuel system will support and the rest of the car is built to take the power so yeee hawww
