lt1 swap: motor wont completely start
hi everyone,
i have been doing a complete restoration on my 1988 camaro, as well as swaping a 1996 impala ss lt1 w/ 4l60E tranny. motor is in the car and wired up, however the transmission is not and i currently have the old v6 and the impala wiring harnesses in it. so my questions are: where do i get a complete wiring harness to fit a 1996 lt1 in a 1988 camaro, and the car will only turn over, not actually start. i was wondering if the tranny sensors and what not are throwing off the ecm or if the chip in the key is the reason it will not start because i do not have the impala key. please help and please let me know if it is something different or if anyone else has crossed these issues.
thanks a lot,
Chase

well it is reading a vac leak the 4.3 sucks up less air that a 5.7. So all the extra air is like a massive leak so it will never run. U need a lt1 ecu from a ss imp. That's what I was told. But I'm sure u need a lt1 ecu

Do you have the LT1 PCM? Or, a 350 ECM from a 3rd gen?
I'm assuming the LT1 PCM, but what you're saying is confusing.
The easiest way to handle VATS is to have it programmed out of the PCM.

Re: lt1 swap: motor wont completely start
Its not working because you cant just take an LT1 harness and plug it into a 3rd gen. It doesnt work that way. You need a CONVERSION harness. You need to make this by combining the LT1 engine harness with the factory 3rd gen harness.
Read pockets thread on how to do this yourself:
