The wife races OVRMYHD and screams louder than the open headers
What a great day! Jenny got to race for the first time in her life. She made 3 passes (this is her 3rd). She was screaming all the way down the track. Don't believe that slowed her down though. What great fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2elSRhtF0Bg
I just updated this after out 3rd time racing it. Vid.s and pictures. Look below

Surprised the passenger window is open. We have to have windows closed, or run a net.

As far as the passenger window goes... I think she had both windows down. She did for her first run for sure. This was her 3rd run so she knew better because I mentioned it to her. The track officials never said a word. Must be nice to be pretty.

We had a great day at the track. Dad barely pulled a wheel (Hey, it counts!), Jenny did a NHRA style burnout, Dad lit em up real good too, and all of us were running mid to high 11's. Dad went 11.64 and 11.63 back to back. Check it out.

a few more, of Ashley Force's future replacement
1. That's my girl.
2. I have no clue why she looks like she's carrying 2 cases.
3. Yes, she is laughing big time as she launches the car! I race like I'm mad but she does it like she's on a roller coaster. Gotta love her.

Awesome runs all around.Whats really cool is 1 car made a fun family outing. Can also create some competitive runs since you all use it.Test to see who can knock the best times out of the bird.

Thanks for sharing the videos. Car is looking good and running good.
A change of torque converter would make that car explode off the line.
I think if you listen real careful the car is saying it wants one for Christmas.

Re: The wife races OVRMYHD and screams louder than the open headers
An S60 is pretty heavy, bulky, inefficient, and expensive. You'd be hard pressed to need anything more than a 12 bolt or Ford 9" axle.
The drag shocks are going to really change the characteristics of handling (negatively) more than any other change you can make. It's not going to be a nice handling car any longer. I'd do everything else first and see what you think before putting drag shocks on it.

Re: The wife races OVRMYHD and screams louder than the open headers
Thanks for the advice. I will definitely consider that, especially since putting a bigger stall in and skinnies up front should be plenty enough to get the front end to lift plenty far enough. As far as the S60 opinion...I wonder why my mechanic recommends it so highly. He's been building cars for 25 years or more and specializes in F bodies (very fast F bodies). Anybody else have input?

S60 is just the latest craze. Kind of like 40" tires on trucks. Whatever did people do before that?

Re: The wife races OVRMYHD and screams louder than the open headers
Over designing isn't always useful. It's one of those things you buy if you make gobs and gobs of power and you need it. I'm not a person that's a good example of how to make every dollar count, but even I think the S60 is throwing away money.

Re: The wife races OVRMYHD and screams louder than the open headers
I'm trying not to throw money away. I put the 9 bolt back together with 3.90 gears and a rebuilt carrier with all new parts. 250 miles later and 1 trip to the track and she's howling on decel. That was 1,500 bucks down the drain.
That's from getting hit by only a 3,200 stall and on drag radials. When I do the rear-end she is also getting a Fast 90 combo and re-stalled to 4,200 or 4,400. I only want to pay for 1 more rear-end and it's my understanding the S60 is only a few pounds more than a 9 inch and easier to spin.
Another consideration is that a supercharger may find it's way under the hood in the near future.
If a typical 9 inch is stronger then that's the way I should go as she could be somewhere between 8 and 900 horsepower by the time I'm done. Safety and reliability are more important than usual too, as my wife makes passes in the car.
I'm not arguing with you as much as I'm just trying to understand what the best decision is with all things factored in.
