I have a chance to buy an L76........
I have a chance to buy a super low mileage L76 out of an 08 GMC. Has anyone swapped one of these? I have been trying to find out as much as I can and I keep hearing about VVT and DOD. From what I have found on the net, I would want to get rid of this if the engine is equipped. How do I tell if this engine has these options?
From what I have gathered I would be looking for a lifter valley cover that is ribbed. Is this true?
This would be a HUGE hurdle if I could pick this up to keep going on my swap.

Its the GEN IV version of a LQ4, nothing really special aside from the nice heads
To disable the VVT, simply unplug it, but quite a few people are having nice results keeping it active
DOD is a ECM control function that can be disabled
Biggest issue is being GEN IV with a much more limited aftermarket as compared to GEN III, and the truck depth accessories that much be retained because the timing cover is huge. Spacing off Fbody accessories is the easiest solution

Do they make a kit for fitting the F-body accessories and are the mounts the same between the two?

I also have this engine to go into my car. i didnt know that the accessories wont work. What do i do now for front accessories?
Also, what do i all need to make the LS3 Car intake work?
I dont want the DOD or VVT, cant i just change to a regular timing chain and front cover without all that?

Well I decided to buy it. It looks like it's going to be just like installing an LS2 or an LS3. I am going to be deleting the VVT and DOD. By deleting the VVT and going with a regular LS2 cover, I can run LS2 accessories. I already have most of it torn down and have listed all of the stock engine parts to make way for other parts. I am going to order my cam in a week or two and am hoping to have it back together before summer. It will still be a year or two to get the carback on the road but this is an excellent start and should give me the propper motivation to get off my butt and get the car running again...........

dont be afraid of vvt. use it. going backwards doesnt do anything but leave power on the table.
