kickdown problem :(
hey there fellows, putting a ls3 into my 88 gta, want to keep my 700r4, rebuilt for the better of coarse, but it has the cable kickdown and the engine is the electronic kickdown, is there something out there to make this work or am i spending 2000 on a 4l60e and 1200 for that wiring harness? thank you so very much in advance

The drive-by-wire throttle body for sure complicates things. I don't recall anyone here who has put a TH700 behind an LS engine that wasn't cable throttle.
Personally, I prefer the full circle bell housing of the LS style transmissions behind an LS engine, since you're already down one bell housing bolt on the engine. I can understand wanting to use what you've got, but sometimes you just gotta do what you've gotta do.

Just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks..... Might be possible to route the TV cable for the 700R4 to the Inside of the car? passing through the trans tunnel inside the console may allow you hook the TV cable directly to the gas pedal and operate it in conjunction with the pedal position sensor...?
Worst comes to worse, can one just manually downshift without issues from a TV cable not being present?

Since I bought my '01 4.8L I've spent no less than a dozen hours just on researching using my '88 LO3-sourced 700R-4 with it, aside from my other research on this swap.
I've come to the conclusion that I'm better off paying Tear-A-Part their $150 for a 4L60E (or 4L80E if I decide to turbo) and ordering a TCI (or alternative brand of your choice) master rebuild kit, and selling my 700R-4.
The cost of an aftermarket torque converter (if an upgrade feels necessary after driving the used stock converter) is about the same for all 3 transmissions, when you compare equal levels of quality, features, and stall speed.
And the cost of the kit is really a wash unless your 700R-4 is already overbuilt, because the 700R-4 requires the flexplate / spacer, the converter pilot bushing, the TV Made EZ kit, lots of computer reprogramming, and addressing the VSS differences.
However, I did save everything I found, in a file on my home PC.

No dice, the TV cable controls line pressure. No cable = instant total slippage. Or rig the cable all the way pulled, then secure it with vise grips (I tried this once) = no part-throttle upshifts, ever. Only WOT.

On a 700R4 the TV cable cannot be ignored or the trans will be destroyed quickly
