If i do need to change them what would be the right way to go can i use truck coils? Or should i just get v8 springs off a camaro?

V6 front springs worked well in my LS1/T56 swap.

In the LS1/4L60E swap, I cut off half a coil from the V8 springs.

This is probably the best pic I have to show the stance:

FWIW, the same springs in a 305/TH700 swap would bottom out.

Re: Coil springs engine swap

When I did my first swap, I used v6 springs. I ended up with a stance with a little more wheel gap than five7kid

I ended up trimming two coils off the v6 springs.... One prolly would have been perfect.

The drop will depend on the age and mileage of the springs

Yes. LS1, T56, AC, PS, etc. I took this pic when hauling it to the shop for exhaust install.

Those are 15" rims, I later put 16x8 rims on with 245-45x16 4th gen take-off tires (from back in 2002). Afraid I don't have a good shot with them on.

Re: Coil springs engine swap

Taller front springs with a lower rate are good for dragstrip launching. I'm wanting a canyon carver so I'm going with cut V8 springs up front. Most all-iron SBC third gens go with Moog 5662s, so I'm thinking 5660s for me because aluminum heads, plastic intake and no a/c. I'll probably cut one full coil before installing. New front springs are only $47 / pr. So why not?

Re: Coil springs engine swap

I have stock Iroc coils up front that I cut 1/2 coil. Ride height is flat/level and the spring rate is perfect for going fast through corners. I´m having an LS2 with a T56 in my car.
