Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

I finished the 3rd Gen Wiring harness prep last night. Pocket's write-up REALLY helped. I was pretty reluctant at first due to the fear of messing up something or being overwhelmed by the wiring but once you start cutting the "commons", your pretty much good to go. I have everything all nice and neat.

Now, to start on the LT! harness. Pocket's write-up for that is a bit confusing. Especially when I saw that I had to disassemble the PCM connectors. SCARY!!! I'm getting down to the nittly gritty and the wiring harness is about the only thing holding me up from finishing.

Is there an easier route that anyone has taken??

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

If the lt1 harness and PCM are from the same vehicle, it helps to label the wires with the connector color and pin location before dis-assembling the PCM connectors. Saves a little time when re-assembling.

Do you really want to take a "shortcut" when it comes to wiring?

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

lol guess not. i just wish i could find an easier explanation to this. I know there are countless write-ups for this but I do not understand what A7 and G3 pins mean. Ive stripped my LT1 harness of the plastic and some tape. I have 7 tabs open, each on a thirdgen.org thread about wiring the harness together. I'm trying.

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

This is a diagram I have saved from one of pockets threads. If you look at the C207 connector closely(one under the dash near factory PCM) the clear connector has each wire pin location marked with its own letter. This photo shows the pin locations in a fashion like the game battle ship. You can match your C100 plug in the same orientation as in this picture and the "a7" and such will become clear.

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

AWESOME!!! thanks. I had took a couple of days off from the harness to relieve the stress from it. I'm back at it right now. Deloomed and taped, commons cut. About ready to disassemble the PCM connectors now. NO FEAR!!!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Plus the football season has started!!!

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

Okay, i have completely disassembled the LT1 PCM connectors on down the harness. Individually wrapped everything nice and neatly.

I was using the pictures in this thread as reference but the they no longer will load. I've restarted my computer and all...just says "photobucket".
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...rt-finish.html

What do I do now? Begin repinning the colored PCM connectors?

I was just reading an LS swap harness thread pocket wrote. Is it comparable to the LT1 swap harness? Was I not suppose to cut the Pink wire that ran to all the injectors??? It had commons in it! HELP!!!!!!!!!

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

I think I have found my problem..I disassembled the PCM connectors without labeling them so I don't know what wires go with what numbers. Any help with reassembling them?

Stay calm i like the Pats when Tom Brady's not pussin out in the pocket. Just make sure the injectors have a 12v switched source and your one step closer man.

You seem very sloppy with your swap, um don't you have diagrams and stuff to help you out, or are you doing this wire by wire?

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

Step one is relax. This is connect the dots not neuroscience

Photobucket only alows so much bandwidth per month for free users like me. When a lot of people read the threads, bandwidth is maxed out and the pics go down for a spell. It resets mid month so don't worry, the pics will come back

The LS1 harness build is the same with a handful of different connectors. Don't fret over the injector commons, it just means you'll have to splice them back together later. A bit easier if they remain together

I don't recommend labeling each pin as they are removed because a lot won't be reused and if you mislabel one, chances are it won't get caught until you're finishing up. It's much easier to properly label each circuit with the loose connector by itself

Well, sloppy I guess. No diagrams, just threads to go off of. Wire by wire. And I was extremely afraid that I have trashed my harness and would have to find another. I was at the hair pulling stage. Just wish I knew how this stuff goes back.

Gotcha. So how did you know which location to put the pins back into? I thought the write-ups would help but I realized the connectors are numerically labeled 1-32 and the diagrams that people are displaying are alphabetically labeled and colors. I tried the colors game as well but almost none matched up to what I was reading. I'll upload some pictures to show where I am in this wiring thing.

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

Color associations with each connector is the fastest

EX, MAF is pnk yel and blk. That's 12v ign, signal to the PCM and grd respectively. Some colors change over the years like the low ref may be ppl or blk, etc. it will be the same changes for the entire harness

So, as long as the pins go to the appropriate connector, it doesn't matter which number (0-32) i insert the pin into??

It absolutely matters. The point was to identify each wire based on color from each connector

So how do you know which number they go in? that's kind of my only hold up...I tried to do everything as you pictured, didn't think labeling would have been so vital to my progress. LESSON LEARNED!!!!

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

Okay, I have about 90-95% of my PCM connectors repined. Where is this CKP SIGNAL wire? I have searched my remaining scrap of wires and don't see any such. It's supposed to be a yellow wire. Any ideas?

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

Same connector as the MAF and tees into the opti circuit. It's a 96-97 only connector. 94-95 harnesses/pcms don't use the crank circuit

Re: Wiring Harness..Halfway Done..HELP!!!

Okay, great to know. So that's behind me. I had took some time off from this wiring headache. Back to work i guess. Couple questions...

1) I have 1 transmission wire left over from repinning the connectors. Its white. I followed the pin chart and didn't see it, any ideas?

2)Whats an ALDL?

3) Do I begin fusing the wiring harness' next?
