Custom LT1/LS1 Swap Wiring harness's built to your specifications..any interest's??

I don't know if this is in the right forum or not,but I was just wondering if I was to offer custom built LT1/LS1 Swap harness's built to your specifications/setup using factory 3rd gen and factory LT1/LS1 Etc harness's..basically just saving you time and the hassle...how many would be interested in something like this? and if so,what sounds like a fair asking price for that kind of service? TIA

I would be interested as well. I'm sure you could get some takers as the harness from Hawks runs about a grand. $600.00 seems like a good price... depends on how much your looking for though.

I was thinking around $225(includes return shipping)if both the 3rd gen and LT1/LS1 harness's are supplied to me...once received, I would strip both harness's down, join the two harness's into one, COMPLETELY remove any unneeded wiring and reloom the new harness, all done to fit your application/setup..let me know what you guy's think.

I don't see how you plan to make any money on these. There is nearly 100 dollars in materials to build one if using high quality loom, tape, solder, ect.. Shipping one way is 15-20(plus insurance). You would likely make less than minimum wage if you are doing quality work with quality materials.

Thanks for the advice, but I've already built quite a few and $100 in material's for 1 harness is a little on the high side if ya asked me,even using quality materials..

I'm not looking to make a living at this..I'm just "feeling it out" for now..more less just trying to help some fellow swappers out and get my name out there/make a little money while I'm doin it.

I'd suggest basing the fee on time vs an arbitrary number. Bear in mind you will have nearly as much time with Q&A prior to and after the work as you will in the actual build. You'll also want to keep a large stock of parts on hand for a quick turn around

I've got a good bit of extra connectors I'll never use if you're interested in stocking up

That is a very valid point..and I understand some harness's will be more complicated than others so it would be difficult to charge a flat rate for any harness, but I don't wanna charge $600-$800 for a harness from me when you can get one from Painless or Hawks for the same price..i would like to be affordable enough that the "budget" minded enthusiast can afford my service's as well as anybody else..i think I may just have to do a few harness's around the $225 and keep a close track of materials and time invested to establish a labor rate that suits me and the customer.. and I am pretty stocked up on materials/supplies but I can always use more..

Re: Custom LT1/LS1 Swap Wiring harness's built to your specifications..any interest's

I would say yes there is demand. In fact I thought there was already a market for this.

Pocket did mine, it was the best money I spent on my entire swap, and if I do another I'd want him to do it again.

And, yes, he answered many email questions for me, was an invaluable resource, and other than me turning the wrench, he is probably the single most critical participant in making my swap a reality.

Yes, I'd pay for someone to assist with the wiring harness.

When the point in time comes for me I'd deffinatly be interested. I have my LS1 harness but every harness on my 89 was junk so once I get another chassis harness and the time comes I'll be in.

Re: Custom LT1/LS1 Swap Wiring harness's built to your specifications..any interest's

I would definitely be interested, I am swapping an LM7/4L60e truck motor into my car 1988 camaro with 305tbi/700R4. Nothing wild needed on mine, just convert everything. Will be running LS6 intake and injectors.

Let me know how much and I'll do paypal as well or send a check either way.
