LT1 open closed loop problem.

Well I have an issue where the car will move in and out of closed loop for some reason. I noticed the temp runs between 165-180 and I'm wondering if that's causing the problem. It runs pretty good in closed loop, but then within a minute kicks back to open loop. I'm not sure what it does while driving though.

Another thing is the BLM numbers haven't moved after about 20 miles. Its burning pig rich and I think I might have to re tune or get a fuel pressure regulator and back off the pressure a little bit.

Only codes I have are SES light malfunction.

Any Ideas?

Re: LT1 open closed loop problem.

at the very least, there's a setting in the PCM for the coolant temp for closed loop. If you can get into the PCM you can change it.
However doesn't fix any problem you may have. What thermostat do you have in it? A little air in the system?
How stock is the motor?

One way or the other, I'd get the car running in closed loop and then confirm you are still running too rich..
One thing I did have with mine is that I screwed up my electric fans and they were coming on all most all the time and I was running cold.. I'm in a slightlty cooler climate and I run a 180deg thermostat (daily driver car not track car)

Re: LT1 open closed loop problem.

Not really stock at all. Has a Madz28 tune currently. The thermostat is a 160*. My aldl cable should be here tomorrow so I can see whats going on inside the pcm. Madz28 doesn't support the lt1 as of November this year so I'm kinda on my own after that anyway. I didnt want to ruin my new cat, Im thinking the fuel pump pressure mught be too high. I cant remember if it was tuned for aftermarket pump but it has a walbro.
