LS3 swap questions

I know lots of people get tubular k members and a-arms, but will the stock ones work with headers? Will the motor mounts work or do you have to move them?
When the time comes, I am going with the 525hp crate with the 4l70e. Also, anything needed to mount the tranny?

Re: LS3 swap questions

With the fbody pan, a stock k-member can be used with the conversion mounts or common SBC 1" setback adapter plates. LSx low mount Ac cannot be used with SBC adapter plates or an unmodified k-member

SSW LSx swap headers clear stock k-member

Re: LS3 swap questions

Thx for the help. What sfc's would you recommend? It's something I should have done long ago. Wish I could swing updating all of the suspension when I tear it down for the swap but my wife would probably kill me. Its gonna take some serious sweet talking for the swap as it is.
Also anyone know if the "muscle car" oil pan that comes with the ls3 powertrain combo with clear factory K member?

Re: LS3 swap questions

If my wife only knew half of what I've put into my "Z" and I'm just in the planning stage of an LSX swap. I'm planning about 10-12K on the rest of it to start this winter after deer season.

Clears the K-member just fine. The problem is clearing speed bumps, manhole covers, painted crosswalks...

Ya when its all said and done I'll probably have 20 in my swap. I told her I would just keep my truck when she goes back to work instead of getting a new one and do my swap instead. I think she is going for it but I am sure I will get some grief along the way hehe. Bad thing is that she worked at a bank before my daughter was born and she keeps a close eye on finances. No hiding the cost from her.

Wasn't sure if the other pan that came with it would work or not. Thanks for the info.

Re: LS3 swap questions

I asked my wife would she prefer I buy a "New Z28" or restore my '92. She asked how much, the $75,000 price tag of a new Z floored her. Good decision I think $12,000 is kind of reasonable at this point.
